We have performed a complete comprehensive color-correction for the entire series, including shot-by-shot white balancing of every single episode, global hue shifts, skin tone fixes, de-bleaching, and various other fixes. [Please see this document for detailed information on our color-correction process](https://andrewvanner.github.io/som/SoM_CC_Process_Day.pdf). ([Night Mode Version](https://andrewvanner.github.io/som/SoM_CC_Process_Night.pdf)). 2. Video contains all previously done fixes to the Dragon Box video include IVTC, decimation, PAR correction, chromatic aberration reduction, chroma noise reduction, chroma placement adjustment, and blocking treatment/grain retention. You can read more about what this means in the [merge PDF](https://jysze.github.io/SoM-DBZ-Merge/mergeproject/R1R2.pdf). 3. Due to the presence of new color-corrected detail, the average bitrate of each episode was increased. This was deemed acceptable as we are treating this like a "master" release. Others are welcome to re-encode the video as they wish so long as they give credit. ### [Comparison Pics](https://slow.pics/c/H6z7Mab2) -------- ### Audio | Episodes | Lang | Source | Source Media | Channels | Format | Provided by | Sync by |:------------:|:----:|:----------------------------------------------:|:------------------:|:-------------:|:------:|:---------------------:|:--------------------:| | 1-153 | JPN | 1986-89 Original Broadcast Audio (Fuji, Tokai) | VHS/Beta TV Rips | Mono | FLAC | HKB / Kei17 | Team Mirolo | 1-153 | ENG | 2001-2003 Original FUNi Dub | HiFi VHS / "Saga Sets" DVD | 2.0 Stereo | FLAC | SoM TC | ZeroCool / Krycek7o2 / butler | 1-153 | ENG | 2009-10 FUNi "Remastered" Dub | "Blue Bricks" DVD | 5.1 Surround | FLAC | SoM TC | ergiman | 1-13 | ENG | 1995 edited FUNi / BLT Dub | Official DVD | Dolby Stereo | FLAC | ZeroCool | iKaos | 1-5 | ENG | 1989 edited Harmony Gold Dub | VHS TV Rips | 2.0 Stereo | FLAC | Tom_Servo | iKaos **Notes:** 1. Broadcast Audio continues to use Team Mirolo's [BA sync](https://nyaa.si/view/1422188), including all fixes made since release. 2. The Original FUNi Dub reflects how the series was originally shown on TV and released on VHS and DVD. HiFi VHS recordings cleaned by Krycek7o2 were used when available. Insert songs originally omitted from the dub were mixed by iKaos and re-inserted into the track. 3. The FUNi "Remastered" Dub is the slightly updated version that appeared on the "blue bricks" and has been manually synced by ergiman. Insert songs were also re-inserted into the track. Note that in some cases extra narration or voiceovers were reduced during insert songs. Untouched versions are available in the Extras folder. 4. The BLT Dub is available for the first 13 episodes. Because it's an edited dub it used the FUNi dub to fill the gaps. Extended versions of the OP and ED were created by iKaos. 5. The Harmony Gold track is available for the first 5 episodes. It was sourced from v2 of Tom_Servo's [Harmony Gold restoration](https://nyaa.si/view/1314299). It also uses the FUNi dub to fill the gaps. ___________ ### Subtitles | Episodes | Style | Format | Timings | Styler |:--------:|:-------------------------------------------------------:|:------:|:-----:|:-----:| | 1-153, SP1-2 | Stylized OP/ED, OP Credits, Titles, Signs, and Dialogue | ASS | corre | corre / iKaos / moi15moi | 1-153 | Stylized OP Credits, Titles, Signs, Inserts, and NEPs | ASS | corre | corre / iKaos / moi15moi | 1-153, SP1-2 | Basic Subtitles | SRT | Isaac / iKaos | iKaos | 1-153 | English Dubtitles | ASS | OnionEclipse | iKaos | 1-153 | Japanese Subtitles | ASS | butler | iKaos *All subs originally OCRed by Krycek7o2. NEPs for 31-71 originally done by Krycek7o2. OP credits timed and stylized by dubudavid. Names and romanization contributions from ajay, dubudavid, professorwho, Herms, Johnster, and SaiyaJedi. Timings contributed by Team Mirolo. Signs originally created by Evoshare and modified by moi15moi and corre. Signs re-colored by butler.* **Notes:** 1. Stylized subs are designed to mimic the look of the original Japanese text for all signs and onscreen text. 2. The signs/songs track is meant for use with the English dubs and contains NEP translations. 3. If you don't care for stylized subs, then we have included a basic subs track as well. 4. Dubtitles are designed to go with the remastered dub, although they should mostly work for both FUNi dubs. 5. We have included Japanese subs for the first time, synced entirely by butler. _______ ### Extras Most extras were ported over from our previous release. Note that NONE of the extras are color-corrected. Is this better than the French AB release?** While we would love to make a declarative statement, ultimately the answer comes down to subjective preference. The AB release has color grading and is "HD" (although still an upscale of the DBOX). However, it remains incomplete as of this writing. We believe that our color correction is more accurate, based on previous research mentioned in the Color Correction Process Document, and we have painstakingly labored to fix the most problematic episodes, in addition to all of the audio and sub benefits our release provides. We recommend you look at both releases and make a decision based on what works for you and your eyes. **2. You guys are gonna CC DBZ, right? Also when movies** We have been working on the other series and the movies concurrently with DB. Everything has been white-balanced and is in various stages of cc at the moment. We estimate our order of next releases will be GT, the movies, and then Z, with GT being fairly far along in the process. There is no time table for any of these however. **3. Why no upscale** Use MPV with Spline36 scaling, which we have included for your benefit in our extras folder. If you have a TV use a media player that uses MPV or allows Spline36 scaling. Since upscaling technology is ever-changing, we feel it would be a disservice to release anything beyond the original resolution at this time. **4. How can we thank you? Do you take donations?** We would never charge for our releases. If you want to donate, please consider donating to [JySzE's Ko-fi account](https://ko-fi.com/jysze). Without him, none of this would be possible. To report any issues, please join us in our Q&A Discord: https://discord.gg/5HuFcx5msE

Thank you ! Now we can watch Dragon Ball with the right colors ! Long live the Seed of Might Team !
Very based work team. Som has done what every company refuses to do.
@sangofe maybe. If so, my comment was 2 letters off.
The most expected release. Thanks !
Very interesting pdf file. Dragonball fans, for better or worse, are from a different breed altogether.
DisplayNamee: two very important letters. AB actually hired fans who do care.
This really does look to be the perfect release and I hope to someday get the harddrive space to acquire it (God help me when Z, GT, and the movies are available too). I really wish we could get some of these niche audio tracks off and just have the one JP and one English, and release other variants for those who really want those versions, but I know I'm just One Guyā„¢.
You can use mkv toolnix to remove unwanted tracks yourself
As close to perfection as possible. All the thanks for another astonishing release
Very thankful for all the work you guys put into this and definitely looking forward to the rest of the series, thanks a lot SoM!!
Finally!! Great job as always. The whole Seed of Might team deserves all the praise and gratitude. This globally demanded release is amazing. The way it was meant to be seen!
is there a reason why dragonbox audio got removed?
@metaridley old torrent is still alive if u really want that shitty audio lmao
@Mataridley Fellow SOM Member; HRSM, has an upload containing all the original DBOX AC3 audio if you wish. As for a reason why; well its redundant to have inferior audio when Team Mirolo's excellent Broadcast Audio exists.
just asking because in the last release it was still in there just for comparison to the broadcast audio
@PeePeePooPoo69 I would still need the space to download it first, which I sorely lack, which is my entire grievance here.
@Astray02Kai You don't need to download the entire torrent to do that, you can do it batches. Download like 15 episodes, remove the extra tracks and so on.
@rnkz Fair enough, I just always worry about takedowns or dropped seeds before I can finish it (Which is what happened to the last time I tried to get all of DB). I have a very "all or nothing" mentality when it comes to this stuff.
![partykirby](https://cdn.discordapp.com/emojis/931699708685058048.gif "partykirby")
Som generally seeds for years so it should be ok
Looks amazing! Thanks to everyone who put in countless hours on what must've been very tedious work to make this happen. You're true MVPs and may Yama/Enma let you keep your physical forms when you go to "another dimension".
This is the best Dragon Ball has ever looked.
@Astray02Kai If you're that worried about it, run to Wal-Mart and buy a hard drive. I don't understand the issue. You could even remux it all, put the files where you want them, and then return the drive after wiping it and get your money back. There are so many solutions on your end that don't require other people doing it for you.
@DisplayNamee Yeah let me just do that with all the retail income I have. Turns out my complaint is moot anyway, as even when removing the excess audio files, it's still around 3gb per episode, so the JP broadcast audio and Remix dub must be the bulk of it anyway.
The bulk of it is video. The audio is a very small part of the release:)
"Why no upscale Use MPV with Spline36 scaling, which we have included for your benefit in our extras folder. If you have a TV use a media player that uses MPV or allows Spline36 scaling. Since upscaling technology is ever-changing, we feel it would be a disservice to release anything beyond the original resolution at this time." Can someone post comparison pictures between this upscale and the release?
There's only one problem with this release: Now, when watching DBZ after this, we have to get used to green skies again... :P And finally properly synced English audio for the original Dragon Box. I always hated the fact that you used Dragon Radar on your previous batch. I was always angry at myself for not having the time to complete my old project, and thanks to you guys, now I don't have to. :-) Can't help but notice the uploader asking for proper credit despite not giving it somewhere else in the description tho...
@sangofe You mean screen shots of the release with and without Spline36 scaling? Just grab MPV from the torrent, it's small and they already have it configured to use Spline36. It looks better, but not as good as the Dragon Ball Z esrgan upscale from SoM.
@pukulan10jurus I'm not sure I understand what you mean by your last paragraph, would you mind elaborating?
Somewhere in the description a guy gets full credit for something he only did about 30% of. It stings a little if you are the other guy and read that. You (again) get the feeling the uploader has something personal against you. But let's not dwell on that. Let's just celebrate this awesome release and keep this comment section the pure love it deserves. The internetz need that. ;-)
This isn't about the content of the torrent, but I need advice. I'm using qBittorrent to download this, and for some reason, it's not utilizing my full download speed. Obviously since this is a big torrent, I'd like to download it faster, and I'm not sure why it's not, since I have things set to use my full speed, despite it not using it. Does anyone have advice?
It's probably just because there are so many leechers. Over 300
Insert over 9000 meme here :P

@pukulan10jurus Still not sure what you're referring to, I have credited people to the best of my knowledge. I have nothing against you personally so if there is something you have contributed that I didn't credit then please let me know and I'll fix the credits.
Sorry, who or isn't being credited here for what portion? It's easy to edit the description, it helps us keep track of things in the future if we need to know where a source came from.
@iKaos: It feels good to hear you have nothing against me, because it seemed that way to me after some past interactions where you linked to "quality versions" in comments of some of our old stuff, but those could easily be misunderstandings/language barriers too. I interpreted that as "here's a version that's actually any good". If you'd want to credit correctly, you'd credit the entire Shen Long (formerly Pendekar) group for the NEP's subs for 31-71, but it's OK if you leave it like this. In fact, please do. Tandi became a close personal friend of mine after we did those together, and I don't really care about being credited anyway, I just thought for a second you were giving me the e-middle finger lol. Glad to have that set straight. Besides, I later discovered that we both overestimated our knowledge of Japanese, and found some mistakes in them. You can probably improve them quite a bit by looking at the French subs on their new BD's, anyway... ;-)

iKaos (uploader)

User
@pukulan10jurus We actually looked into it internally just now and it turns out that we didn't even use those NEP translations as we discovered way back when we did our first release in 2020 that they were less accurate than another set of NEP translations we had from Krycek7o2. So fortunately he is now credited properly but unfortunately that means that now neither of you are credited as we didn't use your work, sorry about that but thanks for helping us fix our own mistakes.
No problem. Knowing there's no bad blood between us means a lot more to me than some stupid crediting, even if you did use our translation. And yup, our translations at the time had a bunch of errors. Our workflow was that I timed them and did everything I could understand, and Tandi would fill in the blanks. Unfortunately, he approved of some stuff that was wrong. Also, our knowledge of Japanese also kept growing, so we were almost constantly improving past errors. Which is exactly why I don't feel like translating the extra's from the Super Hero JP BD and that fix with the forgotten extra's might take a while...
@Astray02Kai A hard drive is like Ā£100 for a 5TB. How do you have a TV, computer, or internet? I'm not trying to make fun of you. I'm just saying that what you want and what you're doing about it are silly.
I guess now I can delete the old SoM DB from a few years back since the CC version is out. Unless there's something from there I should keep? But I highly doubt it unless I'm forgetting something.
Pillar of the Dragon Ball anime community
Great work! All of the work this team did for a 153 episode series, they're not human. These guys are unbelievably BASED machines! Red-pilled too, just saiyan.
I'm really impressed by the filtering and the encoding is just perfect. CRF10 alone is a great upgrade over the previous DB release. Looked over the media info for the other settings and it's just perfect. The grain treatment is top-notch and CA removal has been spectacular. It no longer makes my eyes bleed. Amazing job JySzE and the rest of the team. I haven't watched all of it yet but everything so far has been top-notch. Zero complaints. It's the greatest DB release ever!
@DisplayNamee Inflation in the US is insane and bills have skyrocketed while my pay hasn't. Have a nice day.
Ikaos and pukulan10jurus: funny I translated and a kokujin-kun checked a lot of the nep's for Krycek7o2 :)
Thanks for the great work on this release. Big shoutout to everyone involved in this project!! Amazing work.
I keep meaning to post re-timed subs, but I keep telling myself I should also make an easy way for people to remux them. At this point though I'll just probably never get around to it so I'll just post the subs and leave it as an exercise to the viewer on remuxing. https://mega.nz/file/I1gBCYgK#NHMne7XOxr3-z-F-JWyfojczn7hyd0_RXN7vO2dJHow It's automated re-timing mostly to reduce the incredibly common scenario in the existing subs where lines extend well past scene changes (even when the audio line has ended and CPS is fine even after reducing the duration). I haven't watched every episode, but I've watched dozens with subs re-timed this way and it's preferable at least for my watching experience. No changes to the actual content of the subs, and only dialogue timing is adjusted.
Thanks for including the Japanese captions, will be very helpful for learners.
My congratulations for that hardest work.
besides the 3 original run db animes, is there also a project out there for the og dr.slump anime and its remake about broadcast audio, cc and sub version? would be really interesting because dr.slump has some dragonball tie-ins
Does anybody know when AB Group is gonna release the next HD Dragonball Box?
Not seeing any mention of what the individual fixes are for, besides the files for 20 and 92. Anybody know?

@Metaridley no @SSJBejito no @AndyTheSeveredHead very minor subtitle fixes that I added just because, nothing major.
Deep respect and appreciation to everyone who worked on this painstakingly difficult project. Tho, i think asking for more would be too much, but if possible could you guys please do the same treatment to the Evangelion series? Specifically the original 1995 anime. As far as I know, all available subs has major issues, and it seems that Baws have already dropped the project. Anyways, thanks for this amazing DB release!! <3
@DarkArrowsDLL You should really check out our discord or our Twitter! You'll be pleasantly surprised with our latest update.
@Krycek7o2 Woahh!! That was indeed a pleasant surprise! I didn't know you guys were already working on Eva. My many years of waiting for a definitiveā„¢ release were about to be answered, and I'm really grateful to know that my favorite series is being handled by good hands. Thank you so much for picking Evangelion. Take your time with the project. I'll gladly look forward to your release. Cheers!! <3
@iKaos Thanks, much appreciated.
Can you guys please color correct pocket monsters kids station rips or AMZN WEB-DL http://sunyshore.com/raichu_cel.shtml Cels for color reference
Can you please color correct plan to Eradicate the saiyans original 1993 OVA? Current master looks like crap, it desperately deserves good colors, as well as GT is filler shit made to mint money just like boruto.
@RyzakiT GT is WAY better than your childish retcons . DB, Z, GT and all of the old movies and OVAs are great. Anything after that is Pure Garbage to me . Anyway, removing The original DBX Japanese audio wasn't a good decision . Maybe it's a little out of sync and muffled, but it's way better than these non-Funimation dubs . Thank You . As for GT, I can live with Funi Singles and DBOX is'n bad either . I'm just eager to watch your Z color correction . Good Luck with that

iKaos (uploader)

Can you guys please also color correct Dragon Ball Z: Atsumare! Goku's World and recreate the specials such as summer vacation one, new year one etc for all recap footage borrowed from eps, using remastered footage from the eps?

@RyzakiT no
damn take a break for a couple years and this happens, glad to see yall finally getting the cc done, fantastic job
This is awesome but RIP storage space, I don't even think I have enough space for all this at once rn. Heh, maybe I'll look into learning how to encode stuff properly and do my own release some time.
@MarioLuigi0404 Dear lord
Amazing job its sad that IP owners can't attempt something like this. The best I've ever seen, can't wait until your next release
This is (way) too large.
@Gandeloft women are always telling me this
To those of you complaining about size: this release is for people who would rather sacrifice space for quality than quality for space. For people like us, folks like iKaos and the SoM crew are a godsend for making stuff that doesn't sacrifice quality to fit a size constraint.
Are you going to release both Fullscreen and widescreen versions of all 17 DB movies with edited and typesetted improved funi subs?
WIsh you color corrected the previews, trailers too

iKaos (uploader)

User
@RyzakiT 1) Widescreen 2) People already complain about how long it takes us to do just the episodes, guarantee if we did the extras then this would still not be out yet
Could you just share the japanese subtitles? Thanks!
@iKaos Is any member of SoM interested in doing a Blu-ray release of Slam Dunk in the future?
It's absolutely gorgeous, what SoM has accomplished here is nothing short of miraculous. Toei will never give these series 1/10th of the respect and care as you guys, for me this is the final definitive release of DB. Toriyama's legacy will continue to live on thanks to the tireless dedication of fans like you.
Is this the best Dragon Ball rip? It seems good.
It's not a rip but yeah it's the best DB release
stupid question but how should you label the specials so they show up properly in plex?
