Today's episode took only 45min to encode, which demontrate once more that AV1 is a great alternative for low size releases, even weekly ones !
Very nice job, actually utilising tech to best result (amazing size for encode quality). Proves that bigger is not always better (great for those who store - there is a point that size goes beyond benefit & I find straight massive BD copy encodes only useful for those copying but nowadays either buy or store small as has never been truer when considering new tech, even with high spec systems ... all about how you set up/use).. Very glad I downloaded... I wish other uploads took enough care to do this well & reduce size appropriately. 45 min too !? wow (wow when i've tried handbrake, lol. Now I only encode whilst streaming to 2800-3000 bit for length of video... takes processing power though :) - OOOPS ... all I wished to say was ... Appreciated!! :).
Each week I get better, in either reducing file size or getting more speed. That is to say I find a better compromise to make.
But to be fair, I'm not using the "full" potential of AV1 here because of my CPU and of course time constraints. If it had more cores I could get this to be even smaller for the same quality, because I'm currently using one of the faster encoding speed settings of the aomenc encoder.
But anyway this is already pretty impressive I'd say, and I'm pleased enough with the results.
