This is a V2 encode from bluray. A great movie, and you don't need to know the original series (for which this acts as a special) to enjoy it, if you are wondering.
While the r2j dvd was widescreen cropped, the bluray preserves the full 4:3 aspect ration, which is awesome! (Please do it like this all the time!). The BD is good but the source has glue marks on many scenechange frames. I freezeframed those, some may remain in the movie where I though it would harm the fluidity too much (very short full-24fps shots where the initial frame would be missed too badly, for example).
Video + Audio: Region A BD (1440x1080 10-bit HEVC, lossless wavpack audio (stereo)
Japanese audio only.
Subtitles: English, switchable styled subs.
Note: if the encode gives you trouble playing back/seeking in VLC or MPV, update the player to latest version.
If you can’t play back 10-bit HEVC@1080p due to insufficient CPU performance, you will be able to get a lower-demand alternative soon. Version of this encode in 720p resolution is going to be uploaded later with the tag [If you don’t download this I will cry].

In case you find some error in the subtitles (be it typo, grammar, timing) or the video (mouthcombs, corruption, glitches, etc…), please report it to us via the IRC channel. We can then address it in a eventual fixed version 2, if that happens.

The the H.264 version is meant for "compatibility" and if it was 1080p, it would not cover those people who want a 720p file... The HEVC version isn't that decoding-heavy, quadcore bulldozers can do it with lot of headroom. I guess Core 2 Duo and similar old CPUs might not be enough. FFmpeg devs sadly didn't optimize software HEVC decoding as much as they did H.264 back in its time (or VP9 for that matter...), it could be sped up more.
