For clarification, the source obviously starts out subsampled. I processed the chroma channels in 4:4:4 instead of 4:2:0. This allows the low frequency denoiser to act on each pixel instead of the 2x2 grouping. The comparison picture is a pretty clear cut example of the type of detail that can be recovered this way. However, subsampling back down tends to cause problems after that and would defeat the purpose. There are also other anime that can benefit from scaling back down to source resolutions. OK... but... the screenshot comparison just shows luma noise reduction. I don't see what that has to do with whether the video is in 4:2:0 or 4:4:4 or not. If you want to convince people, do an identical filtered encode in 4:2:0 and compare that one to your filtered 4:4:4.

@motbob I suppose you're correct, but I'm not really trying to convince anyone of anything. I explained the reason for the 4:4:4. The differences in Cr/Cb are not easily noticeable with a single frame and not everyone who downloads this stuff has the knowledge or time to care, so posting an immediately observable difference with the luma channel simply makes sense for people who just want to download and watch. I'm sorry you're displeased but I'm not sure why there is immediate hostility over this.

This is pretty much release only for some people who care and/or understand what he done... for normal people 2pass, 8bit, h264, 4:2:0, hardsubbed encode would be just as good ;)

@Ouazza Nice one :D I too don't know why everyone are so fixed on 4:4:4... If you don't know, then don't share that to everyone. For normal eyes is almost undetectable, so, if you want JUST to watch it, then "you don't need to know" (even 480p with 1000 kbps is enough for that type). This guy it's not here to teach you all what is h264, h265, Hi10P, or what any of the video/audio/subs format means, he just upload torrents of his works for fans (private usage) and fansubs (public websites with video player sources), you did an awsome job sharpening and clearing this movie. (sorry if I made some mistakes, I'm still not very good with english) Hope you'll go to see my torrents too and if you do that, please tell me you opinion ;-D Ah, what program do you use? Because he's good at what he does here that's why ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Only us, encoders, know how hard it is and how patient you have to be for a single episode of 450MB and 24 min. To found it's perfect settings, to render it, to verify it and to kill your internet with torrents =)))) And btw, even for some "expert" in english it's not easy to write such a "story" without mistakes, especially if it's not his native language.
