Piyo-Piyo Productions presents:
The Girl From Phantasia
Have you ever seen Urusei Yatsura?
If you have, congratulations! You’ve effectively already seen The Girl From Phantasia, as it is about as transparant a clone as can be made without a copyright lawsuit. The bad news is that it isn’t as good. The good news is, its only 30 minutes long and there is no second episode. You may wonder why they even bothered making it, and the answer is... uh, I dunno.
If you haven’t, what the hell are you even doing downloading random raw OVAs off the interweb? Go watch some Urusei Yatsura, you barbarian.
Surprisingly, this actually got licensed at one point. It was one of AD Vision’s earliest releases, in fact. You may wonder why a new anime company would even bother to license, subtitle, and redistribute it, and the answer is... uh, I dunno. I can at least guess in this case though: They probably picked up the rights for almost nothing.
ADV only briefly dipped their toes in the domestic laserdisc market and then ran away without completing even one series, and they didn’t reissue this on DVD, and neither did anyone else. Sadly, ADV is no longer with us, and their rights expired long ago, but I’m sure there’s a rip of their VHS that the scripts can be stolen from.
Unfiltered high bitrate DVD conversion included for archival purposes.
