why not increase the quality like encoding at slow preset or better settings instead of encoding at medium quality which is not even a good quality ??? All your encodes based on default medium preset w/o any settings change....
HEVC medium in handbrake is perfectly fine, there's almost no discernible quality difference between that and slow.

There is a sizable difference in quality between the presets 'medium' and 'very slow' in H264, which makes it worth it even if the encoding time increases (by 2x or 3x).
Can this HEVC meme die already? Thanks.

While in H265 thats not the case (http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/211948). The difference in quality is not large between the presets which makes it not worth it when the encoding speeds increases by 5x to 10x. Atleast for me its not worth it.
H265 is useless if your source using H264.
That doesn't make any sense. The source file is 25GB. When you compress 25GB down to 725MB, compression quality is very important. H265 is roughly twice as efficient as H264, so this is about as good as a 1.4GB H264 file.
@bbgPPm7fYE I wish people wouldn't talk about shit they don't have a clue about.
@Shadowfury Enlighten me with your knowledge.
Tests by joletb have shown that x265 is def worth it in terms of efficiency. just probably not worth the encode/decode speed for now.
Vid quality looks good, sub fonts could probably be a bit better though. Ty

^idiot Such disappointing.
Thank you for the upload!
for some reason I can't get any of the subtitle tracks to actually show in this
