Bluray Source: Moozzi2 Subtitle Source: Commie Format: 1920x1080 yuv420p10le VCodec: HEVC Main 10; CRF 20 @ medium preset ACodec: Opus 128k Software Used: \- ffmpeg 3.1.1 \- libx265 2.0 \- libopus 1.1.3 \- mkvtoolnix-gui 9.1.0 I noticed that no one has uploaded a BD release yet so I'm here to make a HEVC Main 10 offer. I chose HEVC Main 10 because it is hardware decodable by modern graphics hardware, and quality is similar to AVC High 10. I could also make a yuv444p12le offer if anyone's interested in that. I also chose Opus for audio as it is a royalty-free codec that achieves better or identical quality to AAC, and FLAC is a bit silly for videos. If it's acceptable to use Xiph's FLAC codec, it should be acceptable to also use Xiph's Opus codec. It's also easier to manage Opus given that there's only one solid implementation that's not restricted from being shipped in Linux software repositories. The x265 library has received a lot of performance optimizations lately so it is increasingly more ideal for encoding. Luckily, Arch Linux officially ships x265 with 8, 10, and 12-bit depth support built-in and linked to ffmpeg, so I had no barriers to getting my system setup for this. I was able to transcode this release with great performance on an old AMD FX-8120 at about 11 FPS with a medium preset, with good enough quality that there is little discernible difference between the source. I wasn't able to notice any quality difference between the veryslow and medium preset, so I decided that medium is good enough for my hardware. I would recommend always using CRF 20 or lower for anime content, as any higher and there is noticeable quality loss. I did, however, use CRF 18 for the extras (NCOPs and NCEDs) as there is a noticeable difference in a few areas with CRF 20 in them. I have all of the files organized accordingly so that they may be scraped by TVDB without requiring manual tweaking on the part of the user. Anyway, I'm sure someone will have a complaint or two about my choices. All I can say is that I've tried my best.
