So I straight-up didn't open the Aegisub file for this one for a couple of weeks. Probably won't happen again.
I'm rewatching Monogatari Series, each episode with the character commentary immediately afterwards, so taking twice or three times as long. It's pretty good stuff. Like, easily better than almost every episode of the show, which is pretty good to begin with. Just started Nise, so out of subbed territory for good. It's trickier than watching PriPara (or most of the other crap I watch raw), certainly, but still very enjoyable.
I was so goddamn close to using this. And instead of a literally perfect translation, you get weeb trash. "Kano-pero", left in glorious romaji in my subtitles, is a combination of Kanon's own name and the phrase "tehepero", which is a deliberately cutesy self-admonishment for a minor slip-up of some variety. It's like a disgustingly Japanese "kawaii" way of saying "whoops-a-daisy" or "Uh-oh, Spaghetti-o's".
