Magai proudly presents _Snipe–Clam Grapple_, a short instrumental Chinese animation from 1983. Also known as _The Fight Between the Snipe and the Clam_ and _The Egret and the Oyster_, it was based on a proverb from the [_Zhan Guo Ce_](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhan_Guo_Ce) (_Strategies of the Warring States_), an ancient Chinese historical text.
This is the second installment in Magai's series of short Chinese [ink-wash animation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ink-wash_animation) films. Like the later short film [_The Praying Mantis_](//www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=753401) (1988), it was produced by the [Shanghai Animation Film Studio](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shanghai_Animation_Film_Studio) and was directed by Hu Jinqing.
