Surprised?
Yeah, I didn't expect to do this series either until I learned that no existing BD rip included the original stereo audio. Yes, apparently this is the only BD rip (to my knowledge at least) that includes the original mix, that actually _was_ on the BD to begin with.
There are other details worth mentioning too, and I'm sure fans of Gunbuster won't be surprised that episode 06 requires some explanation. So, for one thing, both 05 and 06 are shot on 35mm film, so they are the only 1080p encodes. Episode 06 is technically lower since it's cropped, but it hasn't been downscaled in any way. So the sixth episode was intentionally letterboxed in pretty much all releases, except for the ending which was then unmatted to 4x3. This is a bit problematic, because the entire episode must be windowboxed on a modern 16x9 display. On its own, you could probably consider this respectful of the original intent; however, the ending shot used on this BD looks to be an upscaled analogue composite copy. The question then became, "is it worth it to compromise nearly the entire episode for this disgusting last shot?" In my opinion, no.
The raw BDMV came from ADC, and the uploader took the liberty of making his own extra that used a clean version of the ending (transferred in 16x9, creditless, and in perfect quality), and attached it to cropped version of the episode. One other note is that the standard version of the BD-BOX doesn't include the unmatted episode 06, so I could not include it here. I don't feel it necessary though, as it was never animated with that intent. Because the uplaoder had to re-encode the footage to make this extra, instead of using that version, I merely recreated what he did using the original source episode. The final result is an episode 06 that has a 16x9 ratio (1436x808), maintains the 2:1 ratio of the episode, and features minimal borders (padding it to 16x9), so that the episode can unmatte itself for the clean ending, which fills the 16x9 frame. It is perhaps easiest to explain what it looks like with these images:

Next up are the science lessons. The first four are 16mm transfers, so they're typical soft 720p encodes, but the fifth and sixth (4+1 and 5) are analogue upscales, so they are what they are. The BD also includes two brand new HD science lessons that, for whatever reason, use old analogue footage in the background that improperly decimated before being inverse telecined. I can't be bothered to fix it as it would require fairly manual efforts, so blame Gainax for not using their own HD transfer for an HD release. Being new, those last two science lessons are also unfortunately raw. I tried to find a translator for them before release, but ended up including them raw. Someone else is free to translate them.
The other details are as follows:
**Video:** H.264 10bit @ CRF17.5-18
**Audio:** FLAC
**Subs:** Aegisub based on REVO
