This is a v0 release of 2012's Macross Frontier / Macross 7 crossover film, at last subbed in English.
To set expectations, I had absolutely zero fansubbing experience prior to taking this on. Being a big fan of Macross, I'd been waiting to watch this ever since it was announced, and when no English sub was forthcoming, I figured I might as well try subbing it myself.
The video and audio are sourced from the QTS raw.
The subs are a combination of a couple translations. I used Central Anime's old script for all the Macross 7 parts and most of the song lyrics. For the occasional missing lyric (and the new Fire Bomber song), I used various sources from the Internet.
For all the Frontier parts, I used Skull Team (SKTFS) and 諸神片源組's scripts and machine translated them to get a best approximation of what the Frontier cast were saying (hence why this is a v0). From there, I tried converting it into something that resembled natural speech. Feedback regarding the accuracy of these parts would be greatly appreciated.
In regards to the timing, type setting, and styling of the subs, I used Skull Team's subs with some minor adjustments. This was all new to me, so I'm grateful for all their work and not having to start from scratch.
This was originally just a personal project, so I could see what fansubbing was like, as well as have a version of this movie to watch. But since the work is already done, I figured I might as well share it with everyone else.
Thanks to all respective parties for their work. Depending on the feedback, I might release a proper v1 once I get a better sense of the accuracy of the Frontier script. There are also some sections that could use some retiming, and I might even restyle things once I learn how that all works.
Hope you enjoy it!
