Here it is! I must say, this is a pretty damn sharp 16mm transfer. Technically, according to the booklet, it's a 35mm blow-up interpositive taken from the 16mm negative. It's kind of hard to believe how good it looks for a 1979 show, but it's still doesn't really hold 1080p-levels of detail, so you get a crisp 720p instead. Now, onto the DNR. I have done nothing to this except encode it to 10 bit, but Sunrise saw fit to remove a lot of the grain that was present on the original master. The DVDs are probably grainier than the Blu-rays, but to be honest, the effect isn't too bad. It feels "dishonest" to me, but it's not scrubbed clean by any measure. The audio is from the BD, with the English dub from the R1 Anime-Legends set. I have heard that the sync on the AL set drifts from time to time, which means Bandai Entertainment didn't really do the best job in syncing the 2001 dub to the 2007 remaster, but it appears to be generally in-sync, so I've left it. However, I've added a manually synced CD version of the OP to both tracks, which sounds glorious compared to the awful broadcast mix. The subtitles are also from the R1. A few years back, I was handed the Zeonic scripts to use for a future BD release - this was before the R1 DVDs were announced (god, time flies) - but I've decided to go with the official subs here. Sorry to those who wanted them. In short Video: H.264 10-bit @ CRF16 Audio: AAC @ q.5 Japanese/English Subs: .ass from R1 DVD
