**Idol Defense Force Hummingbird** OVA (1993 - 1995) [anidb page](http://anidb.net/a840) Kanna, Yayoi, Satsuki, Uzuki and Mina Toreishi are five teenaged idol singers who are collectively known as The Hummingbird. They are also one of the ace fighter pilot squadrons in the Japanese military. That's because in this particular fictional world, the military is owned and operated by the large entertainment and music corporations, who use the air force service to promote their idol singers. So when they aren't saving the world from major overseas threats, they are on stage in frilly dresses singing about the "Rainbow Forces" of love. This is the story of how they came to be Japan's most successful idol group and its first line of defense. (summary courtesy of AniDB) . . . . I guess the description says it all. This OVA is a serious case of inbreeding moe fetishes and otaku nerdiness. Welcome to bishoujos straddling F-14s, Phantoms and F-15s (etc.), wearing various tacky costumes (including what is effectively fursuits) and performing catchy J-pop schlagers (complete with choreography...) as an icing. This anime is in many ways embarrassing to common sense... well actually, most anime probably is, so! This thing luckily comes from the first half of 1990s, and the beneficial ageing probably makes it more enjoyable than some similarly silly products of today... hopefully. This cute OAV wasn't available in English up to this point. Luckily it caught the interest of the distinguished gentleman known as Skypilot, who provided Japanese DVDs and more importantly, translations. Thanks to him, we can present you this fansub release. For editing, timing, styling, check-ups and more or less everything besides video encoding, the other distinguished gentleman Nodame a.k.a. Jackoneill is the one getting the credit. Note that for the first two episodes, we used the existing scripts by Chaotixubs & Seikai no Fansubs as a starting point. (Thanks to those unknown defenders of justice!)
