Funny how the filesize balloons toward the end. Scanlators learned how to up their game. And I guess hard drives got cheaper too. Some of the scanlation chapters are so piss-bad and clearly TLd by people that barely speak english. I wish this would get re-published digitally in a way that made sense for an English publisher to take it up. It wasn't a bad manga it just wasn't perfect either. Overall I think the manga ended very well despite early controversy due the author taking a medical hiatus right after a critical plot pivot that left a lot of readers confused and angry. Because of that, most of its reader-base abandoned it and stopped talking about it long before the mangaka was able to finish it, given her glacial pace. All chatter about Kannagi disappeared from my feeds and various fan communities in the early 2010s. I think most people who go back and read it now for nostalgia's sake just don't mention it or talk about it with anyone. That's basically what happened with me. I finally re-read and finished it a few years ago, after initially dropping it during the authors medical hiatus (I didn't hate it, just moved on and forgot about it, and lack of chatter online about it contributed to me not getting back to it for a long time).
Similar situation to @nph here. I was reading it and then the hiatus came at the worst possible time and lasted for a really really long time to boot. I kept it in my manga reading app though then forgot about it until I got notified about new releases and finally finished it off. It's a shame because I really truly loved the anime adaptation. I still love this manga and wished there was more to it.
