The Consouls are a band that create jazz covers of video game and anime OSTs, mostly Final Fantasy, Pokemon, and Legend of Zelda, but they dabble in pretty much everything.
This release is a bit of a mess
To start with, it's probably impossible to ever get a full complete discography, because of their history of releases. First their patreon had two types of lossless releases for supporters. There were WAV files uploaded directly to patreon, which are still available to download today, and that's what is in the Patreon section of the release. There also used to be a google drive folder for patreon supporters and this presumably contained every recording they ever made. I'm not sure because the patreon is basically abandoned. I think users who were given access to the drive still have it, but it's not possible to get added at the moment. Everything that is possible to obtain off of patreon, I've downloaded.
These patreon releases have been organized into "albums" by year, so the songs uploaded in 2016 to patreon are in the 2016 folder, pretty straight forward. I've converted these to FLACs, but there was no metadata on the original WAV files. I started to manually add it myself, folders 2022 and 2023 are completely finished, Too lazy to do the rest though, and so the rest of the "albums" in the patreon folder don't have any tag data, so if you want it, you'll have to do it yourself. The track numbers on the years that Ive completed (2022, 2023 and part of 2024) are set by release date on patreon. So the tracks released in Jan start at 1 going to the end of the "album" with the tracks that start in Dec. If you want to finish the rest of them, you can check the metadata and most tracks still have the original "date released" field, this was written in by the band themselves on the original WAV files.
Now there are also album/single releases. Every album, I think, was released physically in CD format. I'm not entirely sure about this because they no longer sell any on their website, all links have been removed, and there are absolutely ZERO for sale anywhere online, second hand or otherwise. They were also released digitally, but not all platforms have all albums. Google Play store had all of them back when play store used to sell music, and it was all lossless. Sadge. Tidal has barely any, Apple has some others but is way to annoying to rip off of, and qobuz has most of them in lossless format and that is what I purchased for the Official Releases section (cost me 250 bucks if youre curious). I'm missing album 1-2 but it's only available on Apple Music, which sucks because it has a very nice cover of Lazy Afternoons from KH2. Also missing World 4 and World 5 but I think almost all of the tracks in those two are in the patreon folder.
As I just alluded to, there is A LOT of overlap. I'd say maybe 80% of tracks released officially were first uploaded to patreon. I would assume the tracks uploaded to patreon are the highest fidelity you could possibly get, if there are any differences at all. I haven't noticed any differences in how they were mastered either, patreon recordings compared to the later album releases. There are however some tracks that are in the patreon releases, but never officially released and vice versa. Like the previously mention Lazy Afternoons, or the Pallet Town cover in "The Consouls" album.
Anyways this was a huge pain in the ass to put together, hope you enjoy. Please seed if you can.
