Orphan is really proud to present the first English-subtitled version of the 1988 movie *Hi no Ame ga Furu* (*It Rained Fire*), about the firebombing of the city of Fukuoka in June, 1945. Until now, the movie has only been available as terrible rips derived from VHS tapes. This version uses a high-definition scan of a 16mm film reel. The film is grainy, with wear and scratch marks, but it is substantially better than any previous version. See [this blog entry](https://collectr.blogspot.com/2025/12/it-rained-fire.html) for more details.
*It Rained Fire* forcefully and effectively contrasts the carefree life of the children before the bombing with the relentless terror of the bombing itself.

As the children and other residents discover, in a napalm bomb attack, there is no place of safety.
This movie is not an easy watch, particularly the second half; but it should be watched. The world is forgetting the horrors of total war, and it it needs to be reminded.
