Orphan presents episodes eight to ten of Tezuka Osamu’s 1993 sci-fi OVA series *Magma Taishi* (*Ambassador Magma*). Drawing for inspiration on the master’s 1960’s manga and tokustatsu (live-action special effects) TV series, the show postulates an ageless conflict between Goa, evil Emperor of the Cosmos, and the spirit of the Earth (confusingly called Earth) for control of our planet. In this set of episodes, matters start looking increasingly grim for Murakami Mamoru and the other good guys, as Goa finishes his recovery and fills Earth's skies with her warships:  Goa is further strengthen by the reawakening of the evil oni Udo:  And then, Mamoru makes a horrifying discovery about his mother:  Our heroes have indeed entered the Slough of Despond™.
