On the Bluray disc it's stated that it's SD on the BD, so it's obviously and upscale.

It's a bummer there's no good release of this anime other than raw bd files. This release is a bad upscale, not true 720p. Yes, pixelation is reduced, line smoothness and clarity is improved, but sharp edges, surface texture and fine detail is completely lost so you can tell straight away it looks off. The BDremux release by ABR12 looks significantly better because it maintains texture quality and fine detail, but it has awful interlacing issues.
