Notes:

Light treatment to reduce and/or eliminate dot-crawl, rainbowing, aliasing, and haloing was applied to the extent possible without harming detail or introducing artifacts. Blended frames were reduced and VFR was employed to preserve smooth motion in the scrolling ED English credits. The footage contained an approximately 6px-wide column of the left edge of the frame which had a noticeably elevated brightness possibly from damage to the film or an improper transfer procedure, which was corrected by duplicating the footage with a 1:1 overlay and cropping the column stack with brightness adjustments to match the adjacent pixels’ level and rest of the frame. Finally, when comparing the source footage and measuring known white-points by sampling their component RGB values highlighted a persistent slight red tint throughout the main portion of the film which gives it a warm/pink chroma cast similar to the original Sailor Moon footage. It has been reverse-equalized to a neutral white balance to alleviate said bias. See comparison screenshots.

Subs were OCR’d, styled, and then QC’d to correct a few errors, add several missing lines, split several others to improve pacing readability, and preserve honorifics. The script was completely retimed to eliminate scene bleeds. Full karaoke of the ending theme has also been added. Options for the unstyled QC’d script, a song-only track for dub viewers, as well as the OCR’d and original retail image subs were included for those that prefer them.

Further film info.
This movie was basically the baby of Takahashi Nakamura who notably worked on AKIRA and Robot Carnival’s Chicken Man and Red Neck among other credits as he was the original creator, director, co-writer, character designer, and animation director for it. He also sketched the entire 400+ page storyboard by himself as well. This release uses the US DVD as a base, although it is said that the French DVD might be better though when dealing with PAL vs. NTSC headaches I have doubts. This movie also never received an R2J DVD home release though a Japanese Laser Disc does exist. Perhaps an HD/BD remaster could become a reality someday (Discotek if you are listening~).
