On august 28th, 2023 a user on tumblr called @meion found a native HD version of the 2003 classic Tetsuwan Atom from the japanese streaming site called U-NEXT.
And so I found a subtitled version of this via archive.org, I decided to add chapters to all the episodes for qol :)
This version on U-NEXT doesn’t include the openings or endings, those were spliced in from the DVD release for your pleasure (720x480)
Every episode is in native 1920x1080 except for the endings and openings sadly, hopefully we’ll get a proper 1080p version of those soon.
The RAWs have been uploaded here: https://nyaa.si/view/1919726
Enjoy this underrated classic.

I hope the subs are better than most of what is floating around but I won’t be surprised if they aren’t. Thanks for the high quality video at the very least.

@zetsu_shoren I KNOW IT LOOKS INCREDIBLE. the 2003 adaptation was a marvel at the time when it comes to animation

@Meitou45 from what I can tell, the subtitles seem solid and accurate. Haven’t noticed any mistakes so far

Was this show made on film? It kinda looks like it based on the screenshots. No doubt there’s more to the image plus the clarity but a decent amount of detail is smeared away which must be from bad encoding/filtering or if it’s some AI trickery. Colors look the same too so maybe they originally scanned it in HD being sourced from the same transfer from back then. If it is an actual HD film scan that’d be epic if they released a non effed-up Blu-ray.

@DamianV8501 It’s definitely not AI upscaled i’ll tell you that much. It was most likely made with 720-1080p in mind but then they only had a DVD release

Can you share the subtitle files only?

@seigemark the subtitle source is added at the bottom, get it from there
