[JPBD](https://nyaa.si/view/1028083) / [FRBD](https://u2.dmhy.org/details.php?id=48203&hit=1) / [ITBD](https://u2.dmhy.org/details.php?id=38753&hit=1) encode rescale, denoise, deband, regrain [![](https://s4.anilist.co/file/anilistcdn/media/anime/cover/large/bx97908-CbfTf71GjJjg.jpg)](https://anilist.co/anime/97908/Fireworks/) \>Starts working on it due to it looking simple to encode \>Nearly completes it \>Stops working on it \>Comes back 3 months later \>Notices that the JPBD chroma looks like someone doubled and downscaled it with bilinear in some scenes \>Downloads all the other BDs \>The BD with the most usable chroma is based on an older master \> *Pain* Originally I was just going to make a comp for this, but ended up encoding it due to it looking simple to encode. Unsurprisingly, I was wrong in that assumption. There are two different masters and the newer one has no good source for the chroma. I have no idea how the older master was approved. It has more [mistakes/unfinished](https://slow.pics/c/Bdq38j4R) stuff than a good amount of seasonals. Here is a quick rundown of all the BDs. - JPBD: Based on the newer master and has the least compression issues. The chroma is lowpassed (with no ringing?), which varies in strength. - US/UKBD: Based on the old master, has horrendous horizontal lines of banding - ITBD: Based on the new master, is lowpassed on all planes - FRBD: Based on the old master, has the best chroma that isn't lowpassed (also has the lowest bitrate of all BDs) - DEBD: Based on the old master, is lowpassed on all planes - SPBD: Based on the new master, has wrong colors and the chroma is extremely starved it might as well be lowpassed (it maybe even is and I just can't tell) As said above, the lowpass of the JPBD varies in strength. It looks like the more complexity/motion there is, the stronger the blur? Or someone felt like nuking some specific scenes. In some scenes, the lowpass is extremely weak/non-existent. In others, the entire chroma is blurred to [death](https://slow.pics/c/43WHl302). So yeah, if you see some drastic color/sharpness changes in my encode, it's because of the lowpass. In the end, I mainly used the JPBD luma and in some rare cases the FRBD luma. For chroma, the FRBD is used most of the time, but the JPBD was also used in some cases. In scenes where the masters differ, I used the JPBD chroma and in some rare cases the ITBD chroma as well. Overall, there isn't a lot of noise going on, with some expected banding (stupid water). The source is a match center 720p FFmpegBicubic upscale. Except for the opening, which is who knows what resolution. It's very hard to test for it due to it having basically no sharp/clear lines and the credits make things even worse (there is no NC version). In hindsight, this movie didn't really deserve my time, but I guess it's too late for that. I don't feel like watching this, so no QC. Just gonna hope that I didn't mess up anywhere. **Subtitles:** \- Full Subtitles [PhallSubs] (modified) \- Signs/Songs [PhallSubs] (modified) Sourced from [YURI](https://nyaa.si/view/1383047). Subs may or may not suck. Made some quick changes to the song styling to make it less annoying to look at. [Mediainfo](https://rentry.co/g6haggdt/raw) [Comp](https://slow.pics/c/iWvGk5q5)

thanks. yeah always was a bit iffy on this movie caus of how it looked. was this reuploaded from a tracker post? the direct u2 links are discouraged.
The old master is just the companies using the Theatrical version they had on hand rather than asking for the Home Video one. Shout! Factory was especially bad for this, as all their BD releases up until Promare used the theatrical versions.
This movie was extremely mid but at least it spawned the music video for the main theme which is god-tier
