Ripped from Amazon & encoded by WOWmd Translated by Perevodildo Quality checked by True Noobow Gamer In the first episode ("Anyway, blame the ceiling!"), two (three) storylines are going at the same time: space explorer / searcher Kenichi is trying to save the Earth from different breeds of Godzillas by looking for a solution in the outer space (Space Travel: Searcher Ken-chan); the goofy race of Underground Men, disturbed by revelry of said Godzillas on the surface, decides that they had enough and declares war on the surface, just to spend the rest of the episode trying to find their way to the surface (Surface Invasion). During the intermissions, which take up most of the screen time, we're shown a story of goofy Ninjas and Daimyos from the feudal Japan era: "101 Ninja Marches." It's also nothing to write home about. Amazingly, [some Japanese blog](https://sakuhindb.com/pj/7_H_26amp_3BJ/201105111.html?_x_tr_sl=ja&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc) calls this episode "a masterpiece of four-panel anime adaptations." I'd beg to differ. Episode two (Christmas Hades) is mostly a collection of animated music videos (almost none of which had lyrics online btw, but that seems more like a norm than otherwise these days), while somewhere in the backdrop the said Underground Men are LARPing as Grinch and trying to take the Christmas away from the surface people, just to fail to reach there once again. I could probably wait two weeks and release this as my 2024 Christmas special, but I figured that'd be akin to gifting coal, and I'd rather have no Christmas special at all this year than making it Nanda Kanda Gekijou. TL notes: • I didn't understand half of the language here. • The "Big Turnip" song in episode 2 is a play on how "Kabu" is both "turnip" and "stocks" in Japanese, overlaying the "Big Turnip" fairy tale motif with the grownup theme of stock trading. • Genie 28 in episode 2 references [Tetsujin 28-gou](https://myanimelist.net/anime/2686/Tetsujin_28-gou) with his mask. That was just about the only (out of 8000) reference of the show that I could get. I think I actually did a disservice to all of civilized world by translating this. Shows like this are the reason why most of the old stuff is still unsubbed. Nanda Kanda Gekijou was one of the most boring and distasteful things I've done, it literally has no redeeming qualities, like the endless 8 all over again. Like, I've done some stinkers for Orphan, but those at least tried and had a personality. Here, the jokes are dumb and immediately get worked into the ground (most of them I couldn't even understand), the art is primitive and ugly, there is no plot to speak of, the music is nice but was also handpicked to have the most nonsensical lyrics out there and fit the absurdist tone of the show, so I don't feel quite sane now, after attempting to translate all of that crap. I simply refuse to believe that a person with a functioning brain, a person who can tie his own shoes and knows how to use a lavatory, wrote those. At the same time, it managed to be heavily Kansai-oriented and was a nightmare to translate. I simply cannot comprehend who was supposed to be the target audience here and why it had to be two episodes long. As is traditional with my releases, I forgot to mux in the fonts.
