However, we cannot abide by your misuse of the term ["Law of Diminishing Marginal Returns."](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diminishing_returns "Diminishing returns") It appears you did not pay attention in your econ class as you should be aware that it refers to the diminishing returns when you *invest more resources* into development or a widget. If we were to apply it to the analogy you misused, it would mean that the more resources we spend to increase the quality of a video, whether it be bitrate or time, the smaller quality differences we would appreciate. Under diminishing returns, output remains positive, but productivity and efficiency decrease. That means that utility (enjoyment) is inefficiently acquired when spending more resources (birate/time) and counteracts what you were intending to convey.
