I’m assuming this uncensoring is mostly based on the character/stand names that are references to music?
TheOtakuX
Well, damn, I might actually read the manga now.
VenomCake
@Rillant You are correct.
luv_3
excited for the rest of the series, God’s work here.
TheOtakuX
@luv_3 Yeah, people already do the same for the anime, so it’s nice to see it happening for the manga. Of course, the manga is more work since you can’t just do a word replace on an SRT file.
Lord_Starfish
For the manga a simple name replace is honestly more helpful than for the anime too, since Viz’s translation is, censored names aside, actually quite well written. I mean it varies from part to part since they have different translators, but from what I’ve seen it’s been solid even at its worst. Meanwhile with the anime… The best official subs for Jojo are worse than the worst of the currently available Jojo TLs from Viz.
And then you have stuff like the Netflix subs for Stone Ocean that are quite frankly inexcusable in terms of just how much basic stuff they get wrong all the time. Sadly the most thorough teardown I could find of that was in a long-since deleted Twitter thread. So all I can really say is… compare Netflix to Some-Stuffs and notice how often they just say completely different things.
luv_3
Official manga translations good in general.
Rillant
@Lord_Starfish It’s why I never finished Stone Ocean anime… It’s almost like they used MTL or AI or something to translate it, it’s just terrible. Patiently waiting for Some-Stuffs to finish up the part.
Blain999
you are a goat for doing this. thanks
George1323
Holy shit I was planning to do this myself with the music references in the later parts. This is sick!

DAMN! Thanks!

Straizo, Tonpetty, and Wang Chan are all the intended names, not censorship. This would’ve taken about thirty seconds to confirm yourself.
Assuming you’re still doing Part 2, the only Pillar Man’s name there that was censored is Santana. Kars, Wamuu, and Esidisi are all how Araki has written those names in English (and represents how the names are in Japanese; Wham and ACDC are not written in katakana the same way Wamuu and Esidisi are). I think the only other censored names in Part 2 are Donovan, Loggins, Messina, and Suzi Q (though Suzi Q is more of a spelling preference than intended censorship, probably)
