Thanks a lot! Hopefully, we'll be back to weekly instead of the breaks.
The anime has always been weekly though? Like, break weeks are a rarity here, even if you count the semi-frequent recap episodes as break weeks.
The semi-frequent recaps I do mean as break weeks. They are much more frequent from my recollection since the start of Wano.
Since the last third of Wano, rather. The first one was over a hundred episodes into the arc. And even then, it's like... one every other month. And quite frankly, they are needed. The show is already in the unfortunate situation where they can RARELY adapt a full chapter in one episode (due to Oda CONSTANTLY taking break weeks), and just looking at how much high-effort and high-quality animation the show has nowadays, they NEED a lengthy gap between the manga and anime and a nice, long production schedule for each episode to maintain the quality they have. And I for one, really do not want to go back to the quality we had prior to Wano. So the options really are either "recap episodes" or "full-on filler" which, with how Oda has been structuring the story with super long arcs that all bleed into one another, there's no logical place to PUT said fillers. And seasonal breaks are not an option because... Shueisha, Toei and Fuji TV all want the show to air year-round because it's profitable. I have noticed though that they have been sneakily making episodes slightly shorter as of late. With the return of endings effectively cutting a minute of episode time, (3 minutes for OP+ED rather than 2 minutes for just the OP) and the new post-episode trivia segments taking another minute and a half... Egghead's episodes have been two and a half minute shorter than what we had at the start of Wano. Which personally? Considering how the show has always been struggling to have enough content to fill a whole half-hour timeslot? Yeah I appreciate the reduced runtime too.
