Thanks for this. Just finished the anime (man what a letdown on animation quality) and decided to give the manga a shot to see what kind of character stuff and plot elements they skipped over. I'm quite surprised they gave it a full 26 episodes for the anime, most stuff like this is lucky to get 12, but they still would have had to skip stuff even with 26. Then again they got a late start on the adaptation - manga started in 2014 in Japan (2019 for english version) and ended in 2023, meaning full anime production would have only started after the final volume was published in Japan. I guess they figured they had no excuse to not try to adapt the whole story.
With moderate pacing and moderate content cuts, 12 episodes usually only covers about 4-5 volumes worth of manga (this varies depending on the style of manga). So for a 16 volume romance manga to fit in 26 episodes, they definitely cut a lot. It will be interesting to see how much they cut and how much better the character development and narrative arcs are with them included.
