鉄腕アトム 第125話 「細菌を探せの巻」・第127話 「実験ロボットの巻」 (1963) Tetsuwan Atom episodes 125 and 127 (Astroboy, 1963) ============================================================== What is this? ------------- tldr; this torrent contains episodes 125 and 127 of "鉄腕アトム" ("Astroboy," 1963) which were previously considered lost media but have now been rediscovered. It's widely known that "鉄腕アトム" ("Astroboy," 1963) is the first-ever 30-minute anime TV series. However, for a long time, certain episodes were believed to be lost media. The initial LD edition of "鉄腕アトム" (release date: 31/03/1990, code: SF220-1700) was missing episodes 34, 53, 125, 127, 139, 163, and 191. In 1997 and 1998, the series was reedited and released across 4 LD-Boxes (codes MD-013 to MD-016). During this re-release, episode 53 was recovered from a 16mm print. Between 2001 and 2003, the series was released on DVD across 6 box sets (release date: 29/07/2001 to 23/07/2003, code: XT-1273~1278, XT-1294~1299, XT-1322~1327, XT-1354~1359, XT-1378~83, and XT-1230~1235). Extensive investigations allowed for the retrieval of negative films for episodes 163 and 191 (which was mislabeled as "ミューの宝," or "Mu no Takara"). Additionally, audio tracks for episodes 34, 125, 127, and 139 were recovered. Episode 34 was recreated using the American film negative, while the storyboards or scenarios for episodes 125, 127, and 139 were provided as bonuses, synced to the audio tracks. Finally, in 2024, episodes 125 and 127 were discovered under undisclosed circumstances and aired on the R Channel streaming service by Rakuten. Why were they lost? ------------------- All lost episodes were produced by external companies, such as Studio Zero, P. Prod, or Õnishi Prod. It's believed that episodes 125 and 127 were produced by P. Prod. The exact reasons for their loss remain unclear, but it's likely that Mushi Prod. did not retain the negatives after production or did not preserve them with the same care as their in-house productions. However, it remains a mystery why only certain episodes went missing while others produced by external companies did not suffer the same fate. How did you get them? --------------------- Episodes 125 and 127 were streamed on R Channel starting February 28, 2024. The video and audio streams were obtained using yt-dlp and were stitched together and synchronised without re-encoding to maintain their original quality. Ad breaks were removed. You'll hear a tiny break in the middle of each episode. That's the best I could do to avoid re-encoding the audio. Why no OP or ED? ---------------- As indicated in the disclaimer at the beginning of each episode, no opening (OP) or ending (ED) sequences are included. To reconstruct the original viewing experience, you can use the second OP ("中期," used for episodes 77 to 139) and the second ED ("後期," used from episode 89 until the end of the series). However, there are uncertainties regarding the EDs, as both versions available on DVD are instrumental. An audio recording of the original episode 69 features a non-instrumental ED. Whether this was the one used on episodes 125 and 127 is unclear. What are these episodes about? ------------------------------ Here's the summaries from the official website: And here are the translations: Tetsuwan Atom #125 "Saikin wo Sagase no Maki (In search of the bacteria)" Due to a simple mistake, a petri dish containing the germs of a terrible infectious disease is lost. To protect humanity from a biohazard, Atom flies deep into the Himalayas looking for the bacteria. Tetsuwan Atom #127 "Jikken Robot no Maki (The experimental robots)" A robot runs into Dr. Ochanomizu, seeking help. According to him, many robots in the country of Yumani are being destroyed in experiments conducted by Science Minister Mūshī. Dr. Ochanomizu and Atom immediately go to Yumani to investigate further. What's missing? --------------- As of now, only episode 139 of "鉄腕アトム" (1963) remains missing. There are additional elements that could be rediscovered, such as Next Episode Previews (NEPs), title cards, and credit versions of the OPs and EDs. Nonetheless, it's considered a miracle that most of the series has been preserved, as other TV series, like "Big X," are still missing nearly 40 episodes.
