Video: IrizaRaws
I originally wanted to make my own encode, but the only BDMV source available was an American release, and I don’t want to touch such releases.
Base subs: NeoHEVC
Changelog:
- Significant improvement in timing (all episodes), which was originally simply bad. OVA1 required full manual timing.
- Changed font to the one I usually use
- Corrected punctuation. Mainly hideous-looking double hyphens, sentences spoken by different characters in one line, redundant spaces or horribly done line splitting
- Improved font height and size
- Honorifics, original name order, name romanization (Fuka -> Fuuka etc)
- Some sentences have been revised
- The nonsensical over-localization in certain sentences and some slang usage have been changed (of course, this doesn’t mean, that words like nakama or keikaku have suddenly appeared).
- Several signs have been added and corrected
- The main character’s catchphrase (鬼正/onitada) has been changed to devily true. 鬼/oni can be used as a prefix meaning “super-” (a good example is 鬼やばい/oniyabai).
正しい/tadashii is an adjective meaning right or correct.
It is quite uncommon and very slangy, but young Japanese would probably know the meaning. HEXactly used by Funi, on the other hand, makes no sense at all.
The whole phrase probably comes from 鬼のごとく正しい/oni no gotoku tadashii, which literally means as right as an oni (oni are creatures from Japanese folklore, often translated as devil or demon).
- chapters
- typesetting, OP/ED TL comes mostly from NeoHEVC release
I hope the second season will have better subtitles and save me the trouble of fixing it so I can comfortably watch with my girlfriend who has only started to learn Japanese so she wouldn’t be able to watch raw.
Quick note
In OVA1 there was a small error in typesetting (wrong suffix, it was supposed to be kun instead of san). I will make a patch later.
can you upload the sub file too

Kinda baffled at the choice to use “devily”, which is just not a real world, instead of “devilishly”…
That’s the whole point: it was done on purpose. The original is not a “real” word either.

animetosho is not working for me for some reasons

I see. Thank goodness you changed the catchphrase to “devily true,” which every American knows the meaning of.

Yeah…I think I’ll just stick with the Light Novels. No thx.

thankfully funi doesn’t exist anymore so at least there won’t be all the dumb formatting things they do for season 2’s official subs

Wrong, JPBD is available on U2

I don’t remember if the light novel mentioned it, but the manga confirms this is exactly where she got the phrase from since an oni character in a video game she played as a child said it a lot.

Vileger,
“I don’t remember if the light novel mentioned it, but the manga confirms this is exactly where she got the phrase from since an oni character in a video game she played as a child said it a lot.”
That was mentioned both in LN and anime

Thanks!

Not sure if this is a mistake you made (understandable) or if this is how it was on the official subs (profoundly embarrassing) but you seem to have put effort into fixing this release, so I just wanted to let you know about a small but annoying error on episode 3, minute 9:19.
She says レアチーズケーキ (rea chi-zuke-ki), meaning something like a no-bake cheesecake, not Bea’s cheesecake. It’s a very common cheesecake variant here in Japan.
I’m glad to read that you tried toning down the overlocalization, especially since I came here thinking that your release was overlocalized, so I think you should’ve gone harder on that. Either way thanks for your work.
