Description from Kineko Video's YT upload: "This is a 16mm scan of an early Japanese CGI demonstration film called "Nagisa no Peppy". It was produced by Toyo Links (which is now a part of IMAGICA), a pioneering CG production company in Japan founded in 1982, which in turn produced the very first cut of CGI in any anime ever in the 1983 Golgo 13 film. Takashi Fukumoto, who was an engineer for that one cut on the film, went on to direct a few short films for the company such as Bio-Sensor in 1984 and Peppy in 1987, with each project advancing the capability of CG animation in Japan little by little. This short is only a minute long, but is an interesting curiosity and demonstrates the state of Japanese CG animation of the time. According to a prior employee at Toyo Link, the short took 4-5 hours to render PER FRAME, due to the complexity of the images refracting and reflecting off each other. The short has only been released on a few LaserDisc and DVD compilations using a low-quality master, so this is the first time this short has been seen in high definition. This 16mm print, which was scanned in 4K resolution, was acquired by MartyMcflies, who gave it to us for scanning."
