Amnesia

(From Wikipedia):
A Wind Named Amnesia (風の名はアムネジア), also known as The Wind of Amnesia in Australia and the United Kingdom, is a Japanese novel authored by Hideyuki Kikuchi, originally published in 1983 by Asahi Sonorama. An anime film adaptation by Madhouse was released theatrically on December 22, 1990, directed by Kazuo Yamazaki.

Amnesia

This is a remux of the 2023 US Blu-ray by Discotek. Included with this Blu-ray is a brand new scan of a 35mm print, which is the first time this film has ever been presented in HD. Also included is the original English dub by Central Park Media, along with a few bonus features.

Amnesia

Much like Discotek’s other “vault” releases, this comes from a new film scan commissioned from Tokyo Laboratory (RIP). As such this is the highest quality release of this film that has ever been produced. Included are a couple of trailers from prior releases, but what is most interesting is a “forgotten trailer”, that is a trailer put together for the film but never release. It was discovered in the vault along with the rest of the film, and an audio track was put together by Discotek for it.

Amnesia

Given this is a remux, no extra encoding was performed to preserve the disc’s quality. The video is the original H.264 encoded present on the original disc, and is a 1080p video with a pillarboxed 4:3 picture. Included is both the original Japanese and English dub tracks in 2.0 stereo PCM. The bonus features include PCM and AC-3 audio. The subtitles are also directly ripped from the disc.

Amnesia

Media Summary:
Video Codec: AVC H.264
Audio Codec: PCM (Japanese and English 2.0 Stereo, Bonus Features) DTS-HD (English 5.1 Surround), Dolby Digital (AC-3) (Bonus Features)
Subtitles: Discotek (From the Blu-Ray)

See you next time.
