Another day, another stupid mistake…
Copied EP24 out of the wrong folder.
Now it actually includes the subtitles and the english audio.
Sorry and thank you @DmonHiro for telling me.
The rest of the files are the same.
There are so called ‘BluRays’ of this floating on the internet, like the QTS release.
But in fact all of them are 480i, so I frankly do not know how QTS got 720p video. :shrug:
That being said, I encoded from the newest SDBD, which had a little better line-art than the DVDs.
VFR video encoded as such; video filters include: QTGMC, cropping, degrain, debanding and adaptive_grain
.
The lossless japanese audio has been encoded to opus, and the english audio highly edited to fix the sync issues.
Subtitles:
About EP1-9, I know there is a fansub from Shinsen-Subs, but just during the first 5 minutes it had mistakes like: “one” instead of “eleven”. (checked using the eng-dub)
So instead of OCRing, I took the subtitles for EP1 up to EP9 from Exiled-Destiny (srt).
The rest of the subtitles are from Nyanko and ACX.
All of the subtitles are heavily retimed, edited and restyled.
Anime is recommended by the way. The voice lines are too short for the animation, but it’s still very enjoyable.
Chapters are from the BDMV.
Stereo jpn audio encoded with 256kbit/s.
If you want the source files of these, just ask me on discord.

Ah, yes… the curse of the upload. You make sure everything is perfect, you check everything 10 times, and then you upload. And then you realize you forgot something… Been there.
sandoe41
I’ve done that too. Also, Handbrake let’s you upscale videos, I’ve done that as well with a few select DVD releases.

@???
I don’t really understand why people would upscale videos.
Simply resizing doesn’t give you more details and ends up being just the same amount of visual content, but possibly with upscaling artifacts and a bigger file size.
AI upscales may add new content, but that’s not what the artist intended the anime to look like.
Is there any good reason to do it?
Btw, it’s also against nyaa’s rules, so you probably shouldn’t admit to it, if your account is worth anything to you.
Or clarify that those releases aren’t uploaded on here.
DmonHiro
On a computer there’s no real reason to upscale. If you want to sell them as a BD though, come companies prefer to to an upscaling. I have no idea why though, they are usually terrible. The worst are from a company called Q-Tec. If you see their logo on a bluray, it belongs straight in the trash.
sandoe41
Nyaa does allow DVD [or BD with 480p encode] upscaling to 575p, and I have only one of my few DVD shows on here. Sorry about my confusing word choice.
ThatWaxEllo (uploader)
@Sandoe41
I think the limit is set to 575p, because that’s the resolution for PAL while NTSC is 480i (commonly).
Although it’s allowed, I don’t think it was the goal when compiling the rules.
@DmonHiro
I wanted to encode the Haruhi Suzumiya Series and holy shit does that BluRay look awful.
AI upscaling is a terrible practice no matter who you are, and simply resizing to higher resolutions and marking it as a BluRay, seems more like someone’s trying to sell / “farm downloads”.
cosmic
the only upscaling technology i’ve seen that actually looks good is AstroRes. discotek’s BD of digimon uses it and they actually put effort into that instead of just slapping a waifu2x filter over the video and calling it a day like most BD upscales
before they located the masters for Project A-ko they were using AstroRes for it and even that looked almost indistinguishable from an actual HD re-scan

@cosmic
Thanks for the great insight. I’ve come across a few of Discotek’s BluRays and they cannot be compared to absolutely anything else. Outstanding work they’re doing.
Glad that at least some companies care about quality.
DmonHiro
@cosmic: Using waifu2x would would actually still be better then whatever the hell Q-TEC does. They manage to somehow smear the colors while also distorting the lines. It’s amazing.

this brings back old memories, cant believe its almost 20 years now

How about some seeders?
ThatWaxEllo (uploader)
@Jollilot
I am constantly seeding my uploads. Are you connectable? Maybe you don’t have port-forwarding enabled.
Jollilot
Ah… I am using motel wi-fi. Well I found the DLL on Discord.

Please seed if possible.
