![cinematic encode](https://i.imgur.com/ZfitgR3.png) To avoid running into problems playing any of our releases, [please use mpv!](https://iamscum.wordpress.com/guides/videoplayback-guide/) Get the most up-to-date subs for this project [here](https://github.com/Toa-of-Gallifrey/Fansubs/tree/main/Pocket%20Monsters). Outside of movies, Pocket Monsters has never gotten proper Blu-rays. The best source since Sun & Moon has been Amazon Prime JP, and for the current series it seems to be a little bit lower quality than it was for Sun & Moon and PM19. We've wondered for a while whether an encode that uses both VBR and CBR Amazon rips would present any appreciable improvement. Thanks to an anonymous benefactor, we now have access to a Vapoursynth script that merges and filters the two sources. There are no changes in the subs. If there had been, we'd be releasing this alongside an updated version of last night's release. The untouched Prime video will continue to be what we release with on day one. These encodes will be out whenever we can get them encoded, and will not supersede the releases using Prime video. We'll continue to release batches using untouched Prime video alongside encode batches. There isn't much that can be done with sources like these. These encodes add close to a gigabyte for debatable gain. [Here is a comparison to help decide whether the difference is worth it to you.](https://slow.pics/c/ZBS8sadG) Episodes 1-17 will be released when they're ready.

Thanks. Çok teşekkür ederiz :) Türkçe Pokemon
The Temporal Lehmer Merge and its consequences have been a disaster for Vapoursynth. It has greatly increased the perceived quality of those of us who use “advanced” filtering, but has nigged objective video quality, has made the video unstable, has subjected encoders to indignities, has led to widespread psychological suffering (in the pixel peeper circles, physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the encoding world. The continued development of such filtering will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human being to greater indignities and inflict greater damage in the encoding world, it will probably lead to greater nyaa shitposting and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering even in “jeet” countries. The encoding community may survive or it may break down. If it survives, it MAY eventually achieve a low level of physical and psychological suffering, but only after passing through a long and very painful period of using only the store and only at the cost of permanently reducing the encoders and pixel peepers to low value roles and mere cogs in the stalled fansubbing machine. Furthermore, if the encoders survive, the consequences will be inevitable: There is no way of reforming or denigging the video so as to prevent it from depriving encoders of dignity and autonomy. If the filtering breaks down the consequences will still be very painful. But the bigger the nigging grows the more disastrous the results of its stalling of fansubs will be, so if it is to break down it had best break down sooner rather than later. We therefore advocate a revolution against the Vapoursynth encoding community.
This revolution may or may not make use of hacking nyaa accounts; it may be sudden or it may be a relatively gradual process spanning a few dozen mald threads. We can’t predict any of that. But we do outline in a very general way the measures that those who hate nigged video quality should take in order to prepare the way for a revolution against that form of fuckery. This is not to be a FANSUB revolution. Its object will be to overthrow not groups but the encoding and filtering basis of the present workflow. In this article we give attention to only some of the negative developments that have grown out of the IEW discord server. Other such developments we mention only briefly or ignore altogether. This does not mean that we regard these other developments as unimportant. For practical reasons we have to confine our discussion to areas that have ignorant malding or in which we have something new to say. For example, since there are well-developed DVD handling and proper descaling rants, we have written very little about DVD SAR vs DAR vs PAR or the destruction of lineart via setsu nigscaling, even though we consider these to be highly important.
