Just like Komi-san, this one had a higher quality target than usual at CQ12. Everything worked pretty well, so much so it even feels weird. Note that your explorer window might hang when opening the scans page, this is normal as they are really large even compressed. Probably Windows trying to decode everything to make thumbnails or read some data, just let it think and it will eventually open. Also it apparently scales with disk speed. The BD Scans are 1200dpi and the Audio CD scans are 600dpi. Talking about the Audio CDs, there is one missing, but the Opening and Ending ones are included (including the Live Opening). Though I did got the chapters from the BD, I think the chapters from /a/nonymous were better, so I used them along with the subs. You can save about 4.67gb if you don't download the BD scans. All AC3 tracks were copied from the source (so not re-encoded, of course). And of course the naming scheme is a bit different again, but it just happened that I remembered mentioning I would like to drop some tags and make things a bit nicer, and I did it in like one or two releases and promptly forgot about it lol I don't really plan on doing downscaled releases again, and my stuff is always 10 bit so the YUV420P10LE tag is useless. If I happen to make some downscaled release again in the future I might include it on that release as the exception. Subtitles are always included, plus I can tag it as english-translated so no need to add the subtitle tag as well. Scans and OST probably don't need tags as well...? Though I don't always include them and having the tag is an easy way to see what has these extras and not, for now I will try to remember to remove them. The audio and video are nice to have, even though I always do AV1 for anime, but it does feel kind of irrelevant as well doesn't it? --- As usual, my releases are meant to be watched using [mpv](https://mpv.io/) and listened using [Foobar2000](https://www.foobar2000.org/). It probably works on other players but that is beyond me. For veryfing the hashes you can use [rhash](https://sourceforge.net/projects/rhash/files/rhash/1.4.3/), on a terminal go to the top level folder of the release and `rhash --check --blake2s ".\Extras\Hashes\BLAKE2s.txt"`, of course changing the `--blake2s` and the txt file name to the hash you want to verify. You can view the JXL files with [mpv](https://mpv.io/), by simply dragging and dropping it there or calling it via command line and passing the image path, or if you prefer a proper image viewing solution, on Windows I recommend [IrfanView](https://www.irfanview.com/) or [ImageGlass](https://imageglass.org/). --- # Currently looking for the following things! Preferably ISOs but any Raw, Remux, Bloated or Good Encode work. **Very High Priority!** The older the medium it was sourced from or the less censored it is, the better! # - Urotsukidoji (超神伝説うろつき童子) - Midori - Shoujo Tsubaki

I always try to save everything from the discs when I get the whole thing, and this one had them so it's also included Would be cool if it had subs for the pre-broadcast as well but it didn't had it
@ScarletNeko what on earth is a jxl file?.. *edit* never mind i found the proper scans in you link above.. thanks

JXL is the extension for JPEG-XL files. They are images, just like WEBP or PNG for example. I like JXL because it has a good compression and it can also compress JPEG images, which are lossy, in a lossless way. It might sound a bit confusing, but compressing a JPEG with JPEG-XL will reduce it's size, but no further information is lost, it is a lossless operation on lossy data. It can also deal with GIFs in a better way than APNG and AWEBP. If on Windows, you can use programs like ImageGlass or IrfanView to open them and pretty much any other image file you can imagine. And I do recommend using one of them (or even both if you want) since the default image viewing program from Windows is pretty lacking. Edit: I added in the description how to view JXL images and mentioned these two programs. You can view them on mpv as well.

\>wavpack what the shit is this

ScarletNeko (uploader)

User
It's an audio codec, somehow there's a variety of them, interesting right? Might be a bit hard to grasp but yeah we have options! WavPack is my audio codec of preference, I've already said before that I dont like opus and am not a big fan of aac as well, it's part of the reason I started doing my own stuff

eli

User
@ScarletNeko I know, I was just remarking on the fact I've never seen it used, really. Seems like an interesting (and new) project though. Why don't you like Opus?

ScarletNeko (uploader)

User
Opus makes things feel a bit empty, dark and gloomy, as if it sucks out the energy of the sound. It can also show some bitstarving artifacts in some situations. It is impressive what it can do on its standard rates but it is not really good enough for me. Properly encoded AAC at higher bitrates is an alternative, but AAC can have some metallic higher end that is kind of annoying. I'm not a fan of lossy in general, but apparently I have some particular problems with psycho optimized stuff as the lossy codecs I prefer are all just mathematics without them (such as WavPack, optimFROG DS, lossyWAV...). I'm frequently testing opus around because of how much everyone seems to worship it, it kind of fascinates me, but it still is not good enough.

eli

User
@ScarletNeko Opus encoded at 128kbps is tested and regarded to be transparent with FLAC. Do you think you would report it as "dark and gloomy" during a blind listening test if you didn't know which source you were listening to? Is that actually an aspect of the sound/data itself or just your perception? I'm not an audiophile myself but there does seem to be a wide consensus here by experts against this claim, no?

ScarletNeko (uploader)

User
Yeah yeah I know very well about these claims, and I've already did more than a few tests as well, but the thing is it is not universal. If something works for 99% of 7 billion that still leaves some 70 million or so uncovered. There's also other things like if you're used to listening to it, age and how well you took care of your ears, equipment, source and so on. Opus might be good but it is not an infallible silver bullet for 100% of the cases. This is not a recent thing, I didn't just got up someday and decided "know what, I don't like this anymore", I have been unhappy with the sound of things for a while already. Reality isn't always what we predict in theory, if someone says " X is good you dont need anything else" but you try Y and prefer it, why would you limit yourself to what someone else that has nothing to do with you said I'm not an audiophile or whatever its called either, I just think "hey this sounds better than that so I will use this instead". I often say jokingly that opus is a cult, because people will go to extreme lengths when someone doesn't do things their way, this is also something I don't like. Even if I were happy with the quality of the sound I would not use it just to piss these people off.
I just make my own remuxs using japanese blurays or other bd sources-fuck tinkering with the source video and audio just to make it "look better and smaller and sound better"-total bullshit. If you can convince yourself and others that re-encoding video and audio makes it better-fine but you'll never convince me of it.

Ugh, I hate weebs who think they know better about "sound characteristics" than professional audio codec developers. It is subjective. Your brain is playing tricks on you dude. It's psychological. Everything in your post screams "I believe I have a golden ear but I'm aware it's considered cringe to say it out loud so I'm going to say some even cringier shit about being in some kind of 1% club." You do NOT have a golden ear, and I can guarantee you are not an audio scientist and don't have access to the same scientific testing equipment that codec developers do, because if you did you would not have the opinion that you do. Golden ears do not exist. Even if you think you aren't, you are exactly the kind of person that audiophile hardware scammers sell their shit too. Sorry to break it to you, but silver-core hand-braided cables do not "transport the audio more cleanly" than copper-core machine-braided cables. Stereo Opus is transparent to stereo source at 128 unless you are dealing with insane amounts of sonic complexity (like harpsichord, choral, or organ music) - raising to 160 can solve this. In recent versions they've even standardized on 96 for most stereo music! So 128 is considered perfectly transparent. Dark and gloomy my ass. I am a classically trained violinst by the way, I listen to a lot of "dark and gloomy" audio recorded in very open spaces as well as "bright tinny" stuff that is heavy on violin, harpsichord, brass, flute, and woodwind. This... is TV anime. Not even an ebic anime film. It's cheap-ass TV anime. You are crying about sound aesthetics on a thread for a lazily-mixed stereo TV anime done on a strict budget, where for most people they will be outputting the final signal from a cheap-ass Realtek audio DAC or tinny crap mobile speakers or re-compressed bluetooth audio codecs on garbo earbuds. Use Opus instead of some dirty closed-source bullshit, please. Fuckin dweebs who think they have golden ears... christ...

Took longer than expected. You come to a weeb site to complain about weebs doing weeb stuff, and on top of that is belittling my gold plated toslink cables? Thats unforgivable, off with your head! Jokes aside you're the exact carbon copy example of what I mean when I say opus people are a cult, if you like it then yeah it's fine but don't try to force it on others. Unfortunately we have options and unfortunately I'm not under a dictatorship regime so even IF it were as good as you make it sound, I would continue using what I do just to trigger you off. I should probably include a trigger warning on the title from now on Oh yeah edit to add, you know oh so much about your stuff that you totally forgot WavPack is completely open source too kek
