[Vodes] Made in Abyss (Season 2) (S02) (S2) (BD 1080p HEVC Opus) [Dual Audio] | Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun | Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou
## Grab [the v2](https://nyaa.si/view/1720652) instead
### Video
JPBD sourced
Denoised, Rescale/AA (Flashbacks not rescaled), Debanded, Regrained
Lots of room for improvement tbh but there's also a (likely) better source (ITBD) releasing at the end of April so you can expect a timely v2.
People just kept asking when this was gonna release and I did have finished encodes sitting around so here's something watchable a month early.
### Audio
- Japanese 2.0 Opus (JPBD)
- English 2.0 AAC (HIDIVE)
### Subs
- English [[MTBB](/view/1585260)] restyled to match my other Abyss stuff with improved TS in EP2 from P9
Worth noting that the ED received new Styling from [Zahuczky](/user/Zahuczky) and the OP got a new (singable) TL from Zedjones
[Comp](https://slow.pics/c/GM8XzX9Q) | [Same comp but not flashback](https://slow.pics/c/Bi1Y7Pqi) | [MediaInfo 01](https://bin.disroot.org/?03f0a209ef07c441#8gNwwtATHPx3DMWqCktGu3pgJkevf73ZNVT4k5QW2uos) | [MediaInfo 10](https://bin.disroot.org/?7cc46bdce0582df5#2SGp2hRV6Lvupvb1BwDav3fsZ1ihJfkSxYFntJNUmofq)
Honestly did not check aside from scenes with signs to make sure those aren't fucked but imo it's already worth it for the much better looking flashback parts
Regarding the topic, the bitrate required for Opus encoding can vary depending on the specific application and desired quality. While 200 kbps might seem arbitrary, it can be a suitable bitrate for certain scenarios. As gil mentioned, Opus is known for its efficiency, and such a bitrate could achieve transparency.
LastBreeze suggested taking the ABX to determine if you're able to determine a difference in quality at difference opus bitrates but it looks like you opted not to take the test as it seems you have not posted results. That can be a useful approach benchmark encoding settings for what seems most appropriate to your ear.
Lastly, Radio, let's keep the discussion constructive and avoid insulting other users. Thank you.

I'm substantially less interested and beyond caring about the 300th fight about opus in Nyaa comments from irate people who clearly have no idea what they're talking about (why is it always these people who have to be racist too?), and more interested in seeing someone try to upload an opus release in place of FLAC to a private music tracker solely for the laughs.
@Arcus_Deer "FLAC and OPUS are audibly identical" No. No, they're not. Unless you have crap headphones, are using speakers built into your Visio TV, or your hobby is shoving sharp objects into your ears. If you spent $300 on Beats headphones and think you're an audiophile now, sorry - Beats are crap, they sell to people who like the look of "I spend money on crap because I look so kooooool."
@Arcus_Deer Cool graph, but the "AAC" part is really misleading. AAC is so heavely depending on the encoder, that you can't just throw "AAC" into it. qaac with -V 100 (or maybe a bit higher) should be on par with Opus 192kbps - file size and quality. And if you want the "make is as transparent as possible" option, you go with -V 127 (which is around ~256kbps). fdkaac is also fine, but you're pretty much forced to use CBR there, because VBR with mode 5 might still be a bit too low. Opus is the option you should use on a Linux system (qaac is annoying with Wine), but on a Windows system I would rather go with using qaac. At the end they're both fine options and should be prefered over FLAC.
eXmendiC if I included all that shit nobody would read it or learn from it; it's just a decently accurate generalization that's easy to understand and applies to 99.999% of the people reading it. Congrats on being the 0.001% mr. smarty pants
