Thank you. I can't wait for sub groups they ignored this awesome anime so whatever. ;)
Nice. _Keep em Guessing_ edition. @saitamazacko I think the `break` in the series production stopped the two groups that were doing this..
@NodMan yeah I know, which is a shame. I seen some comeback but it just takes way more time than before the anime break and I understand that, I appreciate them all though. It's just that I use what I get and don't have control over it xd. I will rewatch it anyways when the BD's are out so yeah just to watch it as fast as possible.
>I think the break in the series production stopped the two groups that were doing this… not really, Animorphs is still waiting on the Netflix subs, and anything else that wasn't a Netflix rip was basically worthless (and still is for those garbage AI subs bullshit)
About the quality of the subs: Yeah, pretty meh for today's standards. Lines with complex dialogues were all mistranslated to some extent, since the best they could do was compare the MTL to the manga. The simple stuff is correct though. I didn't spot almost any grammar mistakes, but the typesetting is also subpar. The second half of the episode is a bit worse, Alicia has a whole line of dialogue missing and there's some stuff that could've been synced better. Anyway, thanks /a/nons, doing something (even if it's shit) is still better than whining about the current state of things without lifting a finger.
thanks i love MTL
Thanks for my weekly dose of fansub drama Unironically nothing wrong with anon subs
Literally unwatchable! I haven't even download this yet I can already tell that the AI sub is awful even though I'm legally blind.
@matheousse So they _Delayed their Delays.._ XD
At this point, it's better to use OTL from manga rather than using AI. But still there's a need for actual TL to translate the in-betweens and not guesslating or MTLing like some other guys are doing.
I'm still over here wondering when it became popular to refer to MTL as AI. I mean, MTL has been AI this whole time, but MTL still gets the point across better. My best guess is people actually didn't realize MTL was AI so now they legitimately think this is somehow different. It's also probably piggybacking off of all of the recent AI art drama, which currently has people thinking of AI as something that does magic.
aah yes, AI san is back
translation half accurate is better than raw ... big T H A N X
@XerBlade nope, MTL typical mean machine translation plus heavy editing. AI or not does not matter. And there were multiple rule-based machine translator, too.
The Nyaa devs should add a MTL torrent flag and a filter than allows users to remove them from search results (similar to "no remakes" or "trusted only") @XerBlade Since DeepL became popular
@TAIMAT "eating half a piece of shit is better than eating a whole piece of shit ... BIG THANX"
We aren't far from the day when every show or movie that isn't simulcast receives an autogenerated AI sub by well meaning fans. Nyaa admins already don't want to litigate what is or isn't MTL and I can't see a tag fixing this problem either, as there's no way to distinguish MTL edited into coherence from a simple bad translation. Eventually only the cartel will be allowed to upload English translated anime.
Why is Netflix taking so long to resume this?
someone made a TL comparison between netflix vs these garbage subs: https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/znp4td/isekai_ojisan_episode_11_discussion/j0m490h/
@krippr MTL just means machine translation, editing or not. XerBlade's point is that machine translation has been using "AI" for many years now. Google Translate (and several others) switched to a neural network based approach back in 2016. And even before then, Google Translate has been using statistical machine translation since 2007, which also fits the modern day usage of the term AI. It says in the credits that this was made using WisperAI, which is a speech to text model which can also do translation apparently. (It would have been great it this was mentioned in the description!) This is likely why a couple of lines are missing a translation, which likely wouldn't have been the case if it had an actual transcription to work with. Other than the few missing lines, this is watchable. Some mistakes, but it is not completely bad. For the second half of the episode which goes beyond what I have read in the manga, I watched it without subtitles and compared after each line and I still came to the same conclusion. (My Japanese comprehension is far from perfect btw.) It wouldn't be good enough for let's say heavy drama where nuance is important and where misunderstanding some lines might have consequences for your understanding of what is happening later, but this is a comedy and missing a joke isn't the end of the world. This translation is not good, please don't get that idea, but unless someone is willing to actually make a proper translation I don't see any reason to bash it either. It seems like we don't have any real translators anymore after the fansub scene devolved into just doing edits of the official translations, so we are just paying the price now.
Well, when the last episode is out and there are still no netflix subs available, I will do the proper subs with my friend as we did for previous abandoned/not picked up anime Or at least that's the plan
fyi, SubsWhen release is up on Anidex.
