no stupid random comment, this took over 24 hours to encode. Sorry that these files don't work on Plex, go bitch on their [Feature request thread](https://forums.plex.tv/t/add-support-for-av1-coding-standard/556253), or use Jellyfin with it's flaws with Anime metadata. Original source is this [RaresCelTare](https://nyaa.si/view/1233050) release. Oh yea, the encode settings I used were `-map 0 -c:v libsvtav1 -preset 5 -crf 32 -g 240 -pix_fmt yuv420p10le -svtav1-params tune=0:film-grain=8 -c:a opus -b:a 64k -strict -2` ``` General Unique ID : 141156847683553184856877278187707077765 (0x6A31D1EA44C7F2F502DC968E55DA9485) Complete name : Season 1/Made in Abyss - S01E01 - The City of the Great Pit.mkv Format : Matroska Format version : Version 4 File size : 130 MiB Duration : 23 min 41 s Overall bit rate : 770 kb/s Writing application : Lavf59.34.101 Writing library : Lavf59.34.101 ErrorDetectionType : Per level 1 Video ID : 1 Format : AV1 Format/Info : AOMedia Video 1 Format profile : Main@L4.0 Codec ID : V_AV1 Duration : 23 min 41 s Bit rate : 36.9 Mb/s Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 1 080 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 10 bits Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.743 Stream size : 6.11 GiB Writing library : Lavc59.50.100 libsvtav1 Language : Japanese Default : Yes Forced : No Color range : Limited Audio ID : 2 Format : Opus Codec ID : A_OPUS Duration : 23 min 41 s Bit rate : 1 536 kb/s Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel layout : L R Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 199.999 FPS (240 SPF) Bit depth : 32 bits Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 260 MiB Writing library : Lavc59.50.100 opus Language : Japanese Default : Yes Forced : No Text ID : 3 Format : PGS Codec ID : S_HDMV/PGS Codec ID/Info : Picture based subtitle format used on BDs/HD-DVDs Duration : 23 min 40 s Bit rate : 47.5 kb/s Frame rate : 0.401 FPS Count of elements : 570 Stream size : 8.02 MiB (6%) Language : English Default : Yes Forced : No ```

I understand you won't bother with preset 8 because it's enormous time sink, but crf 32? How much bigger filesizes would got with crf 25 or so?

@usagiaddict great question, i got no clue. I pulled these settings from the svtav1 docs and was doing a batch encode and then was gonna mess with some settings later on different shows. I'll do a size check with a small show like "Himegoto" since that only took like 4-5 hours to encode (hoping that ffmpeg upstreams intels patches so i can just use my a380 cause i don't wanna mess with compiling it again) update: crf25 brought EP 10 of himegoto up from 32.9 to 46mb, but did encode a lot faster,
Thank you for answering. It's a quite sizeable increase (for this particular show) but if difference in bitrate is noticeable maybe it's worth a shot for BDs. Anyway have a nice day!
Also there is -svtav1-params fast-decode=1 option (but only for presets 8 to 5) but I didn't see anyone complaining in comments they have CPU problems.
Don't give them bad ideas. Fast-decode could have made sense a year ago when software decoding wasn't in the state it's in today, but now the efficiency loss isn't worth it at all.
