Is there a reason why anime releasers exclude keywords in their file names that are present in the torrent title? Just curious.
because bloating filenames is useless and could sometimes prevent from accessing said files since >windows path limit any DB will pick up either titles so they can just choose whichever they want, and then use keywords for easier parsing
File name limitations were limited in Windows 8.1 and older to 250-260. Windows 10 has a limit of over 30,000 characters. If you're still running Windows 8 or older in 2022, you deserve to run into problems.
Ah, makes sense, thanks.

If you’re still running Windows 8 or older in 2022, you deserve to run into problems. Read more carefully. He said "path limit." The path limit is still a problem in Windows 10.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/fileio/naming-a-file "In editions of Windows before Windows 10 version 1607, the maximum length for a path is MAX_PATH, which is defined as 260 characters. In later versions of Windows, changing a registry key or using the Group Policy tool is required to remove the limit." By default it's still 260
>Yowamushi Pedal when might be hard when the BDs for s3/s4 were never uploaded
What? How is the path limit even an issue? Default your torrent downloads to a folder that isn't buried deep in your storage drive. Why do I even need to say that? Default it to a short path, rename it or just move it to where ever. This is absurd. Lol
Imagine being this desperate to argue about something lol
The goalposts are moving... EDIT: Just to say something useful instead of making snide comments, path limit is a serious problem for casual users, mostly because it's hard to diagnose. I remember the first time I ran into the problem a decade or so ago, I had no idea what was going on or why I couldn't work with the files I had downloaded. It's not like there was an error message I could google or something.

> Is there a reason why anime releasers exclude keywords in their file names that are present in the torrent title? Just curious. sam has simply always used this naming and I didn't see much of a problem with it. I put all the possible keywords in the title to make searching easier. While grabbing something from here, automation like sonarr etc. also use the nyaa title. But in general I would say having more info in the filenames is ideal, path limit is not much of an issue with adding a few more characters. You never know where people will get the release from and sources like xdcc or usenet will not always have an accompanying description, mediainfo or even the folder name. The bare minimum for automation to work with those sources would be (BD 1080p) but we're still losing the dual audio.
Comparisons to SCY encode?
long filenames is annoying and dum just put it in the metadata
fwiw, I ended up having missing episodes in my oregairu release due to having too much file organization autism. can confirm real issue
as long as people know what the release contains there is no issue with what the file names are, particularly now since smooth-brainers are using plex [still, pls no english titles kthxbai] filepath limits arent just a problem for windows either btw, it can be a problem for other distros and even software, too.
also as usual with this encoder/uploader, no comparisons or anything to suggest why i might download this
