y is the english opus
@ Simplistic ... maybe they are trying to pretend that the English dub is not total garbage ... which almost all of it has been for decades that is why when a fan site years ago did a poll on whether fans wanted their anime sub'd or dub'd ... some 86% or 87% said they wanted it sub'd because the voice actors for the English dubs were garbage
Did you transcode web eng audio to opus? Why? @komugi no one cares
@ KintokiSakata ... oh, ok ... you must me one of the nyaa thought police, that thinks that all comments you dont personally like, that happen to answer a question, should be deleted and the poster of that comment banned ... right ? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
@komugi no one cares
> that is why when a fan site years ago did a poll on whether fans wanted their anime sub’d or dub’d Entirely depends on the community it's done at. aBytes for example was a 40/60 split in favor of subs. Another site I saw was a 90/10 split in favor of dubs. So trying to claim that a single site's userbase is somehow the end all be all fact on opinions of which users prefer is nonsense. Statistically most Western anime fans if they're not big weebs, will choose dubs over subs largely because they generally don't consume media that requires them to read. At the end of the day opinions are just opinions which are neither right nor wrong. Consume your media how you wish and let others do the same.
@komugi Your poll on some other site, of which you provide no source/proof, is not only anecdotal proving nothing, but it is also completely outdated. The dub scene is much different than it was years ago. Also, consider this: They keep making the dubs, so they must be profitable. If most people preferred sub as you claim, they wouldn't make money from the dubs and would stop making them or at the very least they would make a lot less of them. And your original comment doesn't answer any question that was asked. The question was why is the English Audio Opus and the Japanese Flac? The probable answer is: Because the *Anonymous* uploader got each of them from different sources, which they didn't list, and was too lazy to re-encode them to use the same codec. Also, the uploader being anonymous means there's a chance that all the files are complete bullshit anyway. Just looking at the file sizes raises suspicions. ~2GB per 20-minute episode? It's 1080p. There's nothing special about it. Either its crap files or this is extremely bloated for no reason. PS: Subs suck and for all you know are all completely wrong.
Video: >UQW is usually bloated, I can't speak for the actual quality because I don't download anything that large unless I have to Audio: I wanted to know if the audio was opus because it was sourced from a web release or if the uploader is one of those "EW... Giving dubs more than a gram of bitrate? You should thank me for even adding it, you sick fuck." people. Either way, I don't care, if It's for the first reason; mention it. If it's for the second, then mixing audio codecs when you don't need to is kinda cringe fam. Subs: It's Chihiro, so they're fine for the most part. Nothing to really cry about there.
