is this watchable without having seen the other seasons? i was gonna start watching Bandori and saw this, so im wondering if it hurts to watch it without knowing too much about the series
@Inokori, I'd say yes. BanG Dream! is more of a slice of life kind of deal. It doesn't really a "start and end" but is more so just a lot of girls living their lives as rising rock bands. You should watch from the beginning, but I'd say the only thing you'd be missing is the shared experiences that made them friends over the series, but I don't think it's even possible to spoil anything in this series, since there really isn't anything TO spoil. So by that logic it doesn't matter where you start. This particular special focuses on Morfonica, the latest band to be added to the series, as well as the newest BanG Dream! band in real-life. Bonus Fact: Morfonica's guitar player, Touko Kirigaya is voiced by and portrayed in the real-life band by Hina Suguta (Marin Kitagawa from My Dress-Up Darling).
@Sigma_103 oh wow, does Kirigaya play herself? when i started to listen to RAS one of the things i read somewhere is that they play their instruments unlike other bands on the franchise, so its kinda nice that more girls actually play the instruments they portray thanks for the extensive reply, i guess ill hold myself off and start from the beginning, even if it doesnt hurt that i start here, it kinda bothers me to start at the middle of something if i cant avoid it
@Inokori Popipa, Roselia, Morfonica, and RAS are all voiced by the IRL band members. Only Afterglow, Hello Happy World, and Pastel Palettes don't have IRL bands.
@the_swizzler thanks! to be honest after posting here i went to check the music of the rest of the bands, and i really liked Morfonica, and its kinda nice that theyre both an IRL band and a band in the anime
@Inokori, Yes. As @the_swizzler said, all the voice actresses of RAISE A SUILEN, Roselia, Poppin'Party, and Morfonica play their respective instruments in real-life and portray their bands in real-life as well. However, almost none of them could play their instruments prior to becoming involved in the BanG Dream! franchise. Notable exceptions include: Aimi Terekawa/Kasumi Toyama (who had already been singing before BanG_Dream!) Sae Otsuka/Tae Hanazono (who had already played guitar for years prior) Rimi Nishimoto/Rimi Ushigome (who could already play guitar, bass, and piano) Ayaka Ohashi/Saya Yamabuki (who already played drums as a hobby, having an interest in American heavy metal) Satomi Akesaka/Rinko Shirokane (who had already played piano. After suffering sudden deafness twice in 2018, she retired from Roselia, and was replaced by Kanon Shizaki). Kanon Shizaki/Rinko Shirokane (also had many years of piano experience prior) Yurika Endou/Lisa Imai (already played bass guitar. Retired from Roselia due to health. Replaced by Yuki Nakashima in 2018) Yuki Nakashima/Lisa Imai (already played bass guitar) Hina Suguta/Touko Kirigaya (already played guitar) Mika/Tsukushi Futaba (already played drums) Ayasa/Rui Yashio (already played violin)
@Sigma_103 oh damn, that's kinda amazing, imma dive deeper in the franchise then thanks for the help!
You can watch this without watching the previous seasons but you’ll find way more enjoyment there. This was okay, not amazing or anything. Let’s see how the 2nd ep goes though.
