Release notes: The 4K Ultra HD version of Kimi no Na wa / Your Name is a pretty terrible 2k - 4k up. I cleaned the video from visible errors of 2k-4k conversion (ringing, etc.), slight de-noise with de-band and detail preservation mask to prevent destruction on dark scenes. That was encoded in HEVC 10-bit with safe compression settings to produce transparent quality video.

Which BD release was this encoded from, though?
Jensen
Jpn. Of all the 4k versions, it has the highest bitrate and the best detail retention.

Thanks. Do you have any plans on making an updated SDR 1080p version? Every other encode has some major issue somewhere.

@Mabby
It is possible that I will want to remake ALL Makoto Shinkai films in one way or another, but these are too far-reaching plans and it is premature to talk about it.
Now I just remembered about the UHD ver of the last two Shinkai films before the release of new movie - Suzume no Tojimari.

Hello, may I ask why the brightness in the video appears somewhat dark? By the way, I’m using the MPC-HC X64 player. Thank you.

You are trying to play an HDR video on a non-HDR (SDR) display.
Grab another “regular” SDR release or configure your player to tonemap HDR to SDR.
