**Title**: Cowboy Bebop (Season 1) HEVC 10bit SoftSubbed - 1440 x 1080 Encoded by: EoE **Source**: [JySzE](https://nyaa.si/view/1492120) (210 GiB) **Audio**: Japanese - English **Subtitles**: English [Full - Signs/Songs] (CBM/JySzE) - Italian - English [Dubtitles] ### **Broken Episodes**: Some episodes got broken during the muxing process, and unfortunately (due to the fact that EoE is a bad encoder), weren't caught before release. These are fixable using [the patch script](https://litter.catbox.moe/5z29ze.zip), or just downloading [the v2](https://nyaa.si/view/1528641) **Note**: Did someone say ***BLOAT***? Yeah I kind of threw shit at the wall and let this have crf 18. Worked mostly fine for the majority of episodes, except for a couple which ended up absolutely massive that were redone with crf 19 for a minor filesize reduction. All episodes other than 23 were encoded with the same [script](https://github.com/End-of-Eternity/Encoding-Projects/blob/master/Cowboy%20Bebop/Bebop.vpy), which has commented explanations throughout, but the general gist of it is using a strong cmde + bilateral as a prefilter to bm3d, followed by a weaker cmde merged back into the bm3d clip using an adg based brightness mask. I only added grain with placebo.Deband as I liked the effect more than adaptive_grain here, plus it compresses minorly better. Episode 23 was encoded using a [custom script](https://github.com/End-of-Eternity/Encoding-Projects/blob/master/Cowboy%20Bebop/Bebop_23.vpy) which is far too complex to explain here, and therefore ~~will have a dedicated blog post soon (probably tonight)~~ you can read about it [on my blog](https://blog.eoe.codes/my%20vapoursynth%20scripts/2022/05/06/cowboy-bebop-S01E23.html) (About 12 hours late but nvm). I will also post some comparison frames on slow pics and leave a link here later. Project was fun, should really have done this sooner. thank you judas.
Season 1? is there a season 2?
Out of nowhere, that uploader delivers again.
I'm fine with smaller encodes and this would have been semi respectable at like 2 GB per episode with decent HEVC encoding but 300 mb denoised to fuck? Yeah no thanks lol. Might as well just watch Bebop on Netflix or 9anime
![](https://c.tenor.com/FBsTPQt_59MAAAAC/reaction-my-eyes.gif) I can't believe what I'm reading
Some people like shit. Others can't afford storage space or something better than a Walmart branded TV. In any case, I'd rather spend the 30 bucks getting the FUNimation BDs then watch this shit. Non-affiliated link for those that want to purchase the shit-show that is the FUNi BD, which will actually be better than this so-called encode. https://www.amazon.com/Cowboy-Bebop-Complete-Wendee-Lee/dp/B00NP06DJE/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=cowboy+bebop+blu-ray&qid=1651767720&sprefix=Cowboy+Bebop+blu%2Caps%2C309&sr=8-2
11.2 GiB is just too small. No grain? You denoised to death!!! Isn't there a hero out there, to take JySzE encode and reencode it to 50-60 GİB. (Without filtering and shit!!!)
Why did you use the Jysze encode as a source and call it bloat? If you really think it's bad and bloated, you could have sourced it from either a remux or BDMV available on this very website.
@JanSilver01 Yeah lol. Like the reason Jy "bloated" the bitrate was because the Italian Blu-Ray used is the highest bitrate source of the show so he wanted to keep that bitrate in tact while also fixing IVTC issues the raw BD had. Yet this guy takes the encode and defeats the whole purpose of it . He legit could have just taken another encode or remux
**STOP** complaining on Judas releases, there is a lot *(tons)* available best alternative release **ppl**
@naiyas Truth hurts when you can't afford disc space or the actual product that you have to resort to shit like this.

> Some people like shit. Others can’t afford storage space or something better than a Walmart branded TV. In any case, I’d rather spend the 30 bucks getting the FUNimation BDs then watch this shit. @Krycek7o2 Imagine *buying* shit blu rays from funi. Just go download JySzE if you want quality my guy > Why did you use the Jysze encode as a source and call it bloat? If you really think it’s bad and bloated, you could have sourced it from either a remux or BDMV available on this very website.a 1) I never called JySzE's encode bloat, if you were able to read (which apparently half of you aren't considering you're complaining that a mini encode is too small) the description, you'd notice that I actually called this release bloat, at least relative to our usual releases. 2) Regardless though, JySzE's encode is definately bloated. If 8GiB an episode isn't bloated, I don't know what is. I don't think that's a bad thing either though, it's good for archival, and it guarantees transparency - a useful source for an encoder like me. As for why I used JySzE over anyone else? I'm lazy and didn't want to deal with any VFR / Syncing issues, as well as the fact that I didn't want to do the OP/ED credit fixing that JySzE had already done. What's wrong with me using the best possible source for something? The only way to get better would be to do what JySzE had already done, but given the bloated nature of their release, it's not like it would have really made any difference. ...

... > keep that bitrate in tact while also fixing IVTC issues the raw BD had. Yet this guy takes the encode and defeats the whole purpose of it. @Venny And how have I "defeated the whole purpose" of it? It's not like you can't download the JySzE encode anymore because I've released, in fact, I'd encourage you to if you want the highest grade release out there. > STOP complaining on Judas releases, there is a lot (tons) available best alternative release ppl @naiyas, People are *always* going to complain. The anime puirists come out in flocks to shit on anything they can. If I used the ITBDs raw, someone would complain about the credits being wrong. If I used the JPBDs, someone would complain that the ITBDs were better, and if I use *the best possible source,* (which, let me remind you, I did), they'll complain that I have ruined it. I'm sorry to tell anyone who's for some reason pissed that I've released this, that I could not give less of a shit, and that the ~90 seeders and ~189 completions (larger than JySzE's mind you) speak for themselves. Cheers, EoE
![alt text](https://i.slow.pics/7SPU14Tl.png "This is you calling it bloat")
@EoE You put your seed count there like it's a badge of honor lol. The only people downloading your Hi10 HEVC crap are people that don't know any better. They see a small file size and download regardless of the problems your encode has. Crappy denoise filter that makes the lines look like paste? They don't give a fuck. And neither do you it seems lol. And the comment on how 8 GB per episode is "bloat" is just silly. Bloat isn't real. Maybe it was real in 2005 when buying a 1 TB hard drive was considered having the storage capacity of NASA, but when you can buy a 10 TB Drive for 200 dollars on Amazon "bloat" just seems like a silly buzzword that old boomer encoders are holding onto because their shit isn't good anymore. And I never said re-encoding Jy's release was a bad thing either. Like I said doing 2 GB decent HEVC encodes is perfectly fine and would probably be far less destructive, but you're mindset was to get it as compressed as humanly possible without it becoming a mess of HEVC artifacts (which I bet there are plenty in action scenes lol). But like I said the people that download this crap don't care about video problems and when someone complains they are just "purists".
Reading comprehension; I guess you got none. You call it bloat and then not. You don't even read my actual comment, since that's the point. I also get you get off to your own words. But that doesn't stop it from being a shit encode. See, I've seen others take releases that are "bloat" and make them manageable for others, truly talent people. Taking great care of the source and reducing the file sizes considerably, compressing the audio to codecs more manageable for others, etc. You on the other hand just state you're lazy. The fact of the matter is you're a shit encoder and you were given everything on a silver platter, but proceeded to shit on everyone's faces and called it a day. In due time, I am sure a person or group will release something amazing from this source, but until that day.... With love and affection, Krycek7o2 P.S. It's still a shit encode no matter how you justify it. e-Peen measurement is kind of sad to use as a counter argument. P.P.S Praying your reading and writing comprehension gets better, or at least become a better encoder. I know that last one is a stretch though.
Wow, some people are mad. well can't expect better from Dragon ball fans who download 100 episodes for 900GB
To be fair, the encode is perfectly fine for its size. The trick question is could EoE have gotten it to look better for the same size without using a different encoder/codec? Otherwise, I'm not really complaining :P
@Krycek7o2 if you're gonna tell people to resort to buying blu-rays on amazon on an encode that is MEANT to be low file size, for reasons that people can't afford better, then you got something in your head. Not gonna bring up that "bUt hE wOrKeD hArD oN iT!!!" but this is better than 9anime. you're at the wrong place telling people to buy, the entire website is aimed at NOT buying but watching for free. @Venny bro, 8gb per episode is not bloat? just gonna disagree with that one. i thought 1 or 2gb/ep was fine, but this shit is another level.

@JanSilver01, and others, That comment is talking *about my release,* in my original post I never said that JySzE's encode was bloated, I was referring to ours. This is now the third time I'm saying this so I hope it registers. In my *second* post, I say that JySzE's encode is bloated too. Bloated means "excessive in size or amount," according to google, but "excessive" is subjective. I would say excessive size, i.e. bloat, for any release is 8GiB, and for a mini, intended for people who **cant afford** a $200 drive off of amazon, or 100mbps internet (yes, people without excessive money do exist), 750MiB is probably the upper limit. For *those people,* this is going to be the best release they can get. And it's not like it's even that far from the original. None of the denoising filters used (except maybe DPIR, but that was only used for about 10 minutes of footage in episode 23) make stuff look like crayons, even at high strengths, in fact many of my own filters are used by stereotypicially good encoders in the community. (Feel free to check out vs-average, EoEfunc (containing CMDE), and my CCD port. ...

... > You’re a shit encoder > You put your seed count there like it’s a badge of honor lol. > You were given everything on a silver platter A silver platter? What silver platter? Judas (the man), Alph4, myself, and others have spent the last 2 and a half years building up Judas (the team) from scratch. I learned everything I know from others in the community, and by myself, and none of it was served up to me. I write my own filters and functions when needed, and teach others how to do so themselves, and I'm constantly learning how to do even better. If making releases for people who have less good quality internet, or lower quality hard drives makes me a shit encoder, then so be it: I'll be a shit encoder forever. But good encoders will still continue to use my code, other people will still add to my seed count badge of honour (which it is mind you, because it reminds me that every day that people are thankful for what I do), and the "anime purists" will still come out in force every few weeks to tell me I'm a shit encoder. Let me tell you my guy, being a shit encoder is fun, and you ain't gonna stop me from enjoying it. This will be my last comment in this thread, otherwise I fear that nyaamods will lock this post for people to send actual comments. If you want to continue this discussion, feel free to contact me directly, or on the Judas discord server. Cheers, EoE
I really appreciate including the subtitles for the dub. I see people arguing in the comments about the release quality. Just out of curiosity, what is wrong with it? It looks pretty decent to me.
@JazzyScuffs Apparently EoE has a gun to people's head to dl this when they can go grab a better release in their eyes. Anime Cartel really do be hitting though.
da fuck did I just walk in on? Is this like race wars but for encodes?
Dbztards complaining about a mini being small
justifying a bloated release by bringing up hdd prices 🤡 jysze's release is bloat, regardless of quality. other people like kawaiika, scy, sam etc make good encodes that are properly filtered and transparent while staying at normal filesizes, not 7-8gb per episode. db fans sure are special.
Umm....... thanks I guess. Ungrateful bastards the lot of you complainers. Appreciate the hard work EoE and the team at Judas.
