The source is of average image quality with a 720p native resolution, which was upscaled by inferior algorithms, resulting in significant aliasing and haloing of lines. Moreover, there are very ugly edge artifacts around the lines of characters, which this revision is mainly focused on dealing with. We used multiple algorithms to descale the source to 720p and merge their results to remove most of the aliasing and haloing while maintaining sharpness. Then a specific neural network algorithm was used to fix the edge artifacts. Finally, we used a high-quality algorithm to upscale it back to 1080p with moderate anti-aliasing and de-haloing applied. This combo eventually got the lines fixed.
