# Kino no Tabi (2003)
###
Due to technical limitations of the time, Kino's Tabi was digitized by taking photos of each frame displayed on a CRT TV, leaving the show with distinct scanlines throughout each frame. Though lending it an aesthetic appeal to its audience at release, over time due to progress in technology and a youth whomsts earliest memory was of an LCD, these same scanlines have turned the series ugly and alienating to the new generations. This release provides a de-scanlined video, created by sending an inverted phase video feed through a crt to cancel out the scanlines, and using the same frame-by-frame photograph digitizing technique used in the source material to create a smooth video that is pleasant to viewers of all ages.
Some scenes have been intentionally left with scanlines.

why would anyone do this
EDIT: gotta admit tho, the way they were removed sounds neat. But I'm highly dubious of the claim it's there due to technical limitations. You don't exactly see many other anime with similar scanlines floating around from the same time.

Because it was clearly an intentional artistic choice...
The idea is incredibly interesting even though I would never watch it, so I appreciate your encode.
The first series has such a retro aesthetic because of those scanlines though, I'd never choose to intentionally remove them.
Mad respect for the OPUS tag, brother.
