Man, how are modern encodes not definitively better than something from 2013? NanoAlchemist holds up and even trades blows with UDF's release (VCB-Studio). Sometimes even better. NanoAlchemist * Better anti-aliasing * Better debanding * Less (minimal) macro-blocking in dark scenes (esp. 2nd half) * Some better detail retention for in-motion quick frames or 1 frame flashing (i.e. 02:09:39:438 background locker lines) * Some smudging / detail loss (rip eyebrows on some background characters) Both trade blows in visual noise depending on scene and area of frame. VCB-Studio * Better micro-detail retention (i.e. 00:27:21:306 page texture, 02:32:06:492 circle between 6th & 7th beam) * Sharper micro & background detail * Higher definition / less smudging on close distant detail (i.e. 00:05:52:310 scarf lines & cd player, 01:35:33:519 blush lines separation on Kyon, 02:41:41:483 newspaper lines) * Some random pixel artifacts / warping You really can't go wrong with either encode though since the issues aren't that noticeable unless you are zoomed 400% & frame comparing. VCB might perceptually look better when watching due to the overall clarity being superior. I'd probably give the edge to VCB just from it retaining more detail instead of wiping stuff out. But it would be nice to see someone take another shot at a modern HEVC encode with non-destructive AA / debanding and minor noise clean-up without as many of the problems. Cool subs though, thanks!
What's this multiple languages tag for the Sings & Songs track? Either use zxx or eng-forced. I recommend zxx as you can't set players to prefer forced tracks as far as I'm aware.
This is missing italics. Seems to be a trend among your releases.
