I’m seeing a lot of references to “devil” when they aren’t actually saying it in jp. For example “kuso” being translated as “The devil take him!” when it should be “shit/damn it!” in context. Among other mistranslations the official subs are using and still seeing it in your release. Another one that comes to mind is when Jeanne calls out the beast’s name “Chloe” but the official subs instead say “Now die!” but your edit says “Now die, Chloe!”. I mean it’s an improvement but not entirely accurate?
Don’t get me wrong, I liked your work on the monogatari series, but it’s sad these days fansubbers are nonexistant or when they do appear it’s just a lazy rip from official subs.

that’s not a mistranslation in the least. it’s actually good writing. the setting isn’t modern japan. it’s 18th century steampunk france with vampires where the church is a massive part of the story. it actually makes more sense for the characters to speak the way they do in the subs instead of something more normal.

it obviously connects with the previous line (“I failed to slay you here in Gévaudan so long ago.”). not everything has to be 100% literal, especially when you make it flow better.

just check out our bishounen tanteidan subs if you want to see “real” fansubbing. the script barely resembles the official subs anymore. but you wanna know why i edited that so much and this so little? those subs were garbage and these subs are great.

Will you release a new episode roughly at this time every week?
herkz
no, just this episode was delayed a bit to translate the songs. the rest of the episodes should be released a few hours after it airs.

what’s the point of doing your own release if you don’t plan on actually translating it yourself or even editing the official ones
herkz
um… we translated the songs and there are definitely edits, but the main reason to sub it is for much better video quality than the simulcast

In the ED the line “We breath for the first time, not knowing the rules, we pull the trigger ad nauseum” should contain breathe instead.
