Why call this episode 12 instead of S2 episode 1?

Because the anime is split-cour: it's the same season, but a part airing at a different time. Also, I heard they're likely animating the whole thing. Only up to vol. 6 this cour of course. Hope it's true. Seeing the full Greyrat household animated would be glorious.

@Dr_Dreem it’s the same season that is why and besides its official title is Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2 or Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Part 2 so technically its not season 2..:-)

@Dr_Dreem Officially it is episode 12 if you look at Japanese sources and also funimation Unfortunately, myanimelist and Erai-raws don't follow official episode numbers, and this causes some confusion
