Okay what is going on here? Did Funi recieve bad masters or something? The video looks really bad. Too much ringing and blocking.
The bitrate starvation is there as usual but thats to be expected I just didn't expect so much ringing and blocking. The Wakanim webrips do not seem to have these issues.
I feel like at least part of it is definitely Funimation doing worse compression. For a while their 1080p was 1.3GB instead of less than 1GB that it's been since last season or so. What a great way to get people to pay for their streaming service; make the compression quality noticeably worse.10/10. I wonder if the 1.3GB is what the original supplied file is since that is what Crunchroll and HDIVE seem to have now. Good God how I don't miss HDIVE's disgusting 300MB 1080p. That quality was absolutely horrid.
