Besides the first 2 episodes, the rest of this set is entirely filler. I pity anyone who actually paid for this.

western anime import industry can’t afford actual video experts to work on their releases lmao
they hire friends and family for peanuts (the nepotism and penny-pinching in the anime import/dub industry has been proven over and over) and the guy they have working on BD authoring only knows how to click a button that says “Default Upscale” in DaVinci or Adobe or whatever they use - he/she probably couldn’t tell you what the different upscaling algorithms actually are or why one is better/worse than the other.
Or they put it through a mastering/remastering toolchain that obliterates the picture quality and they either don’t care or are too stupid to notice (second is more likely - you’ll know what I’m talking about if you’ve ever met or talked to some of these chodes at conventions and brought this subject up. Somebody who only knows how to use Handbrake at a high level probably knows more than those morons).
Least likely theory but still could be possible: Japanese licensors/publishers deliberately provide compromised/quality-reduced masters to western dubbers/distributors, in order to preempt cheaper “re-imports” by Japanese fans who don’t want to pay for the outrageous BD prices in Japan (they used to do a similar thing with music CDs - which is why Japanese music CDs would always have a high number of bonus tracks, to get japanese fans to pay the higher sticker price rather than importing the much-cheaper American CDs).
