So I woke up and just realised that I kept using my pre final qc sub file yesterday which is why the song-dialogue clash issue came. I had fixed it the night before along with quite a few other edits, saved it as eva-final and somehow completely forgot about it the next morning. You can downloaded the sub file from [here](https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=1kN1thawNj9h588-l2tIsSgl_FxnF0nK1), it has fixes in regards with the timings, typos, styling and pretty much everything, should play just fine if you use it with this release. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ If you downloaded the previous release it's fine, there's just an issue with the songs and dialogues clashing and changing positions 1:05:25 onwards for about a minute or so, I had fixed it yesterday night but shit happens. And how can a release of mine not have a re-upload... _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Well, I guess someone had to. Based on Amazon's Japanese subs, styles used are the same or similar to previous releases for the series. All Japanese songs have been translated, English have been done though not all, most aren't even audible. Japanese songs at the end have the Japanese, Romaji and the translation while the ones in between only have the Japanese and the translation. Signs have been done to some extent, most major and a few minor ones have been done. Timings have been adjusted wherever felt necessary. Thanks for the fix!
So... did you fix up the subs so they are actual English subtitles and not dubtitles?

[@Moses35i](https://nyaa.si/view/1424844#com-2) Np!
I misread that as "Based on Amazon's subs". Didn't see the "Japanese". Awesome. Thank you. I've been waiting for actual English subs. The ones from Amazon were terrible.

[@DmonHiro](https://nyaa.si/view/1424844#com-6) Np! They really were, not completely wrong but quite off like instead of "I'll pilot it" they wrote "I'll be the pilot" :')
I don't know what to tell you. I have Amazon Prime, and the subs I saw on the site were definitely dubtitles. Granted, I have not checked back since.

[@DmonHiro](https://nyaa.si/view/1424844#com-8) No, what I meant was that I agree with you, "I'll be the pilot" was from dub too :')
If I can be pedantic for a second, what you described was less of a translation problem and more of an editing problem. I do seem to recall a few instances throughout the Amazon subs where I was just like "That's... not what the character said" though I can't remember any examples of the top of my head, but for the most part the translation itself was accurate, just very poorly worded. Though I guess whether or not that means it's better to start over from scratch or if it's better to just take what's there and try to rewrite it into something less clunky is up for debate. I tend to prefer the latter, though I have definitely seen examples of that approach resulting in questionable translation choices or poorly phrased lines sometimes slipping through the cracks. Although, there is one case in this where I do flat-out take issue with you doing an OTL, and that's for the ending songs. The Netflix subs literally credit Utada Hikaru as the translator for them, and what with her being fluent in both English and Japanese and also being the person who WROTE the song to begin with, I think we can therefore trust that what she wrote is EXACTLY what she intended for the song to say... So why does this sub still use "Let me sleep by your side" when the official was "I want to be laid to rest next to you"? It's just, I never did question all the other translations I'd seen which all were some variant of the former, but not gonna lie, when I saw that translation from Utada herself I was just like "...OH. So THAT'S what they meant by that! That makes SO much more sense in light of it being paired with lines like 'If I can't meet you before my world fades away'." ...I feel like I'm being kinda mean right now :|

While I do respect your opinions in every respect, I usually TL everything to my preference may that be songs, dialogues or signs. The issue you've pointed out is not really an error, while Utada did simplify it to directly deliver the meaning, nemurasete in the song is a form of the verb sleep which in this case is being used to refer to what you'd call eternel sleep. As for the let and I want to be, those are interchangeable and aren't really affecting the meaning in a broad sense. Again, I'm not saying that Utada's TL is in any way wrong, it's just that people can word songs differently. I may have went about this differently had I actually read all of the Amazon subs but well what's done is done. If you'd like to change it, it shouldn't be difficult, the songs are nicely segregated near the end of the sub file. And you don't have to feel bad, constructive criticism is always welcome. It's not like I'm perfect either :)
these are so awkwardly worded worse than the dubtitles tbh fam
I only checked the ending scenes but these are WAY better than the Netflix subs. God damn they translated some stuff in a way which made the ending so much harder to read smh. Thanks for these. I imagine someone will probably iterate on these to improve some of the phrasing in places but overall best version to watch atm for sure.

[@Yuki7k](https://nyaa.si/view/1424844#com-13) [@x23](https://nyaa.si/view/1424844#com-14) Glad you liked them, and well er apologise for the extra dumbness yesterday :') [@peanutbutt69](https://nyaa.si/view/1424844#com-12) Well, to each their own. Would appreciate it if you could specify some parts you didn't like.
OK, so the lyrics to the background music at 1 hour and 15 minutes were REALLY distracting. Please don't do that anymore. At least put them on top the screen. As a rule, you shouldn't add anything else but dialogue in an action scene, regardless of the background music. Especially if the music in in English to begin with.
Subs were fantastic though. Thanks. The movie might as well be called Evangelion: Ass pull Edition .

[@DmonHiro](https://nyaa.si/view/1424844#com-16) Glad you liked them! I'm guessing you're referring to the Metamorphosis at 1:17:40ish, I was pretty skeptical of that myself but then I had done every other song so I was like it would be weird if I left this out :') Either way, I'll be sure to keep that in mind for my projects next year, and in case anyone wants to remove the extra songs before watching, you can open the sub file with even a notepad then go all the way down, you'll find all the songs neatly segregated with their names before the sings start. Ass pull edition it is :) time to rename my file

[@DmonHiiro](https://nyaa.si/view/1424844#com-16) About the 1hr15min thing they were supposed to be on the top, but I forgot to add the style from the song sub file to the main sub file :') Fixed it now though
Thanks again for the sub fix. (theres a link in first paragraph of torrent description if you missed it)

Looking over the comments, I know some people take some issues with the subs, but at this point I have to say thank you. Mostly because the AMZN subs were just so fucking bad, in choice of words, and timing to the point dialogue would flash on the screen with no time to read it. I'm glad you put something out there that, for me at least, is perceivably better and easier to watch. Thank you again.
The correct CRC is F606E2D8, not the one you see in the filename
