Hello weebs! Today i bring you 'rare item' from my personal vault. The bluray release of the best ghibli film "Kiki's delivery service". Not the bog-standard remux of the children however, nay! This contains not only the untouched remux video with its three default audio tracks: Original japanese French The 2010 remixed dub(never watch it it is horrible and has near constant audio artifacting. watch this to learn more https://youtu.be/KJW6pea-QLQ) All presented is beautiful dobly stereo( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolby_Stereo) But also: the 2003 dvd 5.1 surround sound dvd dub mix, which is the only non boomer dub anyone should watch for this. Audio sync'd by me. The "long lost" streamline entertainment boomer dub from 1990. Only released on in flight movies and a single laserdisc release in japan. Audio is presented in its original monaural sound mix, and losslessly captured, by me, from the laserdisc's hifh CX sound output. Also sync'd by me. This dub marks the first time the fabulous Barbara Goodson lends her sensual voice to a witch. I hope you will enjoy this film as much as I do, it has every audio option someone living in north america could want at the highest possible audio quality. Enjoy my friends, and remember. Stay fresh cheese bags!

So... this has an English dub that is actually "lost? I'm impressed by your dedication.
@DmonHiro There was a dub for Kiki by Streamline for JAL Flights, which was only released on Lasedisc in a Miyazaki Boxset that is long OOP.

@dmonhiro I collect laserdiscs and other retro media. I found multi generational lossy encodes of it online but well those are shit. so I ripped my own copy of it. Do be warned, the audio itself is not well synced to the footage even on the laser-disc itself. So i could only do so much. But then again the original japanese also has sync issues so meh
Regardless of the quality, and the fact that I don't usually watch dubs, I need to hear Barbara Goodson as Kiki. I just NEED IT. So thanks.
I have the Buena Vista Kiki laserdisk 12722AS from the late 90's with digital soundtracks and closed captions. I never listened to the dub track. Can't find a copyright date on the album. Looking back, LD's were damned expensive - I paid CDJapan $85 for Mononoke Hime, but that was worth it since it had a PCM soundtrack; had to read the subs from a printout. I also have the KOR box set.

@dmonhiro I feel you there. Once I learned that rita repulsa voiced kiki I knew I had to have the laserdisc. It's also the only way I can stomach the English dub with original music. The artifiacting on the bluray English track is just so bad @spacebutler6, that would be the 1998 release with the original disney dub. Same vocals as included on the dvd 5.1 track in my release. I have it and had considered adding that sound track but as its fundamentally the same just with different Rear surround volumes I didnt see a reason to include it.
The Streamline/JAL dub has been released a few times on this site and others over the last couple of years, BUT I think this is the first time in a while that the original version of the Disney dub has been made available. The original version of the Disney dub has some score/sound effect changes and some additional ad-libbed lines for Jiji, all of which got reverted in the 2010 re-release.

That's kinda sad considering that the og Disney dub got vhs dvd and laserdisc releases, which I've owned for uhh shit bout 2 decades now. But glad to help get my favorite dub out
The Japanese Ghibli LaserDiscs have slightly different audio mixes for the films. I hope you can capture the audio from these LaserDiscs. Not just the English dubs, but the Japanese digital audio tracks and the Dolby Digital tracks for Whisper of the Heart, On Your Mark and Princess Mononoke.
